Draft Day is here and I'm in the perfect state of mind

I put myself in the state of mind, to the point where its virtually impossible for me to be disappointed, I can only be excited and optimistic.

I can't even remember the last time I went into a draft day feeling this way, but I've convinced myself that no matter which one of the BIG 4 we pick, we stand a good chance of finally securing a franchise QB. The only way we can muck this up is if we draft someone other than one of the BIG 4 QB's, but its inconceivable too me that even the Jets can be that stupid.

And it must be said, that trade from 6 to 3, while costly, put us in a position where at worst we will have 2 of the BIG 4 to choose from, but more like 3 of the 4 to choose from, assuming the Giants pass on a QB as expected and take Barkley or Chubb. But even if they take a QB, worse case scenario, we have 2 of the BIG 4 to choose from. Thats why I can't ever remember feeling this good, excited and relaxed heading into a draft.

I don't care about my preferences. We all have preferences, but whatever QB we Pick, I'm going to be optimistic that we snagged our FQB.

All I know is that 8:30 p.m. can't come quick enough. We'll either be on the clock or close to our pick being in. Some will feel either good or disappointed. The choice will be a topic for months, even years. All that, and our pick will sit. We'll talk about the when and wonder why our pick hasn't sniffed the huddle in regular season the moment Jake goes down or has a terrible game. It all makes me yearn for pre season when our rookie plays.

Boys today will forever change this franchise for better or worse. I'm so excited and nervous that I will probably have tears coming down when the pick is made. I love my kids my wife and my family but the love I have for our beloved JETS is crazy. Cheers to everyone who bleeds green.

At least they have a (high) first round pick.
I also root for the Nets, and get to celebrate "pass over" twice each year.
I'm excited.

This day seemed like it was so far off back in Feb. But it really came quickly. It’s already draft day. One of my favorite days of the year. We’re not only getting a player tonight who’s going to be a foundational piece, but a QB.

Maccagnan and the boys have done their homework. They have multiple plans based on who goes 1 and 2. They’re clearly satisfied with several different outcomes based on the huge trade to 3.

I feel good. I feel like we’re getting “the guy” tonight.

I just realized something about the title of this thread.
If any of us are in a perfect state of mind, then why are we long time Jets fans?
We have to be just a little nuts.

I started a thread similar to this yesterday called, "No matter what, stay even keel!!!" and it seemed appropriate to copy and paste this post onto this thread. Moderators, feel free to combine my thread to this one:

This is mainly a open written message to myself, if not for anyone else whom feels the way I do. Today is the draft and it is going to be an epic one. Whether that’s in a positive or negative way, remain even keel. Me personally I have tried my best not to key on any QB or QBs because I don’t want to be disappointed if he or they are not picked. I also realize whomever I would want the Jets to pick, he’d probably be the wrong one anyway so why bother?

I’m trying to just have the frame of mind of just enjoying the draft and whomever they pick, give the kid a chance to learn and develop. If it takes him a year before he’s ready than so be it but whenever he is ready, hopefully he’ll be our guy. I’m typically the type to have the mindset that if your picked in the first round, especially the top ten you should ready to go game one your rookie year. You don’t have to necessarily set the world on fire but be average at the least and get better as the years go by. Well with a franchise QB, it just may not happen immediately. Tom Brady sat a year and so did Eli Manning (if I’m correct.)

So I have to stay even keel and not draw conclusions after tomorrow or after the season starts or I’ll absolutely loss my mind with this draft. I have been waiting for years and I mean years, as we all have for the Jets to draft a true franchise QB in the first round. It can possibly and probably happens this year but whomever it is, he may not be ready to go year one or show real promise until year two or three. If he does play his rookie year.

I also have to remain even keel on the fact that other QBs may do better and win more for other teams initially or overall but it doesn’t necessarily have to mean that the Jets picked the wrong QB. Doesn’t mean that QB or QBs would have done that for our team. So to Jets82 and anyone else who feels the way I do, give this draft, QB, GM and CS a chance and trust in them all. Don’t prejudge and enjoy the ride. Remain even keel and just as they say in Philadelphia, “Trust the process!”

I'll be watching the pick with baited breath willing to be content with whichever of the top 4 they pick. At this point I will be happy with any of them but I'll be REAL HAPPY if he pans out.

The beautiful thing right now about overpaying to move up from 6 to 3 is that we set the bar.Any team, going forward, that tries to trade up will be paying through the nose. Any team trying to jump the Jets(Bills) will have a huge price to pay, a price that might be too prohibitive to pay.

still sitting on a dock of bay hammer??
Absolutely. Initially it hurt me that the Browns settled on Mayfield, that was MY GUY, but I came to the conclusion that all of these guys were potential FQB's and the only way we could muck it up is by taking none of them, and it was inconceivable too me that even the Jets could be that stupid. That said, while I wasn't personally on the Darnold bandwagon, I'm encouraged, therefore excited and optimistic, because he was clearly the consensus #1 QB in this draft for months ... by hardcore NFL GM's and Scouts, present and former. They saw this kid play a hell of a lot more than I did, and he was their #1 QB by a landslide.

Sorry you didn't get your guy. I'm so glad we got my guy. Darnold is a winner and a leader.
