Draft Rumors: New York Jets

2/9: The Jets aren't expected to consider Deshaun Watson at No. 6 overall. - Manish Mehta, New York Daily News

The consensus is that Watson is a second-round prospect, and the Jets don't want to reach for a quarterback. They've also been happy with Christian Hackenberg's development. I have the other New York team taking Watson in the first round of my 2017 NFL Mock Draft. -Walter​

2/2: The Browns and Jets have high interest in Mitch Trubisky. - Jason La Canfora, CBS

Charlie Campbell refuted the Jets reports during Senior Bowl week. The Browns make sense though; Trubisky seems like a good fit for Hue Jackson's offense. They might just be able to land Trubisky at No. 12, especially if his height concerns turn out to be legitimate. Trubisky is rated second in our updated 2017 NFL Draft Quarterback Prospect Rankings. -Walter​

When I told this to Jets sources, they rolled their eyes and shook their head. The Jets are apparently pleased with Christian Hackenberg's development. The Jets might as well give Hackenberg a chance because this draft class is pretty weak at quarterback. -Walter​

This makes sense, as New York has to find a better edge rush, and Anderson is a high-effort player. Anderson is 12th in our 3-4 Rush Linebacker Prospect Rankings. -Walter​

I would be shocked if the 49ers passed on Trubisky. He makes way too much sense for them. Glad we're rumored to not be interested in Watson. I think he's a reach at #6.

in my view there is NO QB worth taking in the Top 15... That being said I don't think we need to draft anyone before round 4, since we don't have a 4th round then our 3rd round compensatory selection could be used for one if we don't trade down and stockpile some extra picks that is...

Trubisky fits with three teams and we are not one of them {Chicago, Chargers, and Vikings}

Watson has potential but again he is just another Geno Smith type QB, no thanks... Perfect Match, Arizona Cardinals or Kansas City Chiefs are options...

Patrick Mahomes is exactly what the 49ers need if he is still on the board in the second round...

Expect very few offensive players taken in the top 15: 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 OL the rest will be defense...
