I may be spelling this kids name wrong but does anyone know anything about him? He is a undrafted safety (unknown school) on the Jets roster. Or trying to make the roster I assume. Heard alittle about him on sports radio. He grow a very ruff life in one of the worst areas in Florida or some area in Miami I believe. No dad in the home, homeless at times or most of the time, he and his siblings and mom had a hard time eating at times also. He has a daughter and says is motivation is her and to be the best player/person he can be. Powerful story.

Eskridge is a Safety out of Syracuse. Was projected to be a late round pick, but went undrafted. Most of waht I have read about the kid, he probably should have stayed in school another year. Give him a year on teh practice squad and there is a chance he could be a player some day. Following is his draft profie from cbssports.com:

DURRELL ESKRIDGE, FS
SCHOOL: SYRACUSE | CONFERENCE: ACC
COLLEGE EXPERIENCE: JUNIOR | HOMETOWN: MIAMI, FL

HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-3 / 208 LBS.STRENGTHS: Prototypical frame with broad shoulders and room for additional muscle mass. Balanced, coordinated athlete. Accelerates smoothly and shows above average fluidity when changing directions for a player of his size. Uses his long arms to wrap the legs of ballcarriers and flashes an explosive pop. Good timing and hand-eye coordination.
Showed toughness in playing the second half of the 2013 season with a fractured wrist and torn ligament in finger that ultimately required surgery. Has shown a great deal of resiliency and determination after a rough childhood in which he and his family were often homeless. Left school early in effort to bring financial stability to his family.

WEAKNESSES: Not yet the sum of his parts. A step slow in diagnosing the action and too often arrives late. Takes questionable angles to the ball. Needs to get stronger. Struggles to break free from downfield blocks. Requires a medical update on his right hand due to surgery in May 2014.

PLAYER OVERVIEW

After flashing with 36 tackles, two fumbles and blocked kick in 2012, Eskridge led Syracuse in tackles (78) and interceptions (four) as just a redshirt sophomore in 2013, helping him earn third-team All-ACC honors.
Eskridge reportedly investigated leaving for the NFL after his breakout 2013 season but ultimately returned, finishing third on the team with 68 tackles. He earned the ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording nine tackles, a fumble recovery and running back an interception 29 yards for a touchdown in a 31-15 loss to Notre Dame.

Eskridge's size, range and ball-skills could lead to some clubs even considering him as a potential receiver convert. The Syracuse coaching staff experimented with Eskridge there in practice and he even caught a pass (19 yards) in 2013.

Eskeridge has shown a penchant for making big plays, recording five interceptions, four fumbles (two forced, two recovered) and a blocked kick over his career. He's a bit rough around the edges but possesses the upside to warrant rolling the dice.

Interesting. Hopefully he turns out to be a true player and not just one for any team but for the New York Jets

It's only a powerful story if he makes the team and starts to play well for the Jets. Otherwise he's just another squandered talent.

Gonna be hard for him to make the opening day roster but seems like a good bet to be on the Practice Squad
