Eagles at Jets Gamethread

I liked the performance of the reserves in this game. It looks like this year will be a ball control type offense; sprinkled with some down field throws. That should suit Fits as well as Geno whenever he returns. I appreciate most is fewer turnovers even when you'd expect to see them this time of year. I hope the penalties get cleaned up. I believe the officials will loosen up on some of those calls and not throw flags.

Huge time of possession by the offense denied defensive players opportunity to show their stuff.

I really liked the performance of the OL. Ran the ball 50 times and the pocket was generally pretty clean allowing at least Flynn ample time to find his receivers. I gotta think that is a function of the success of the run game and Gailey's scheme. It'll be fun when he starts mixing in an occasional long ball to Smith and or Owusu. For the first time in a long time, I feel that the offense is in good hands with Gailey. Hope we can maintain that sort of balance and success during the regular season. Will be an interesting season if that happens combined with the expected strength of the defense.

agree with that

even with our 2's and 3's in there on offense, you could see a well designed offense at work - we didnt have multiple receivers ending up in the same small area - you could see receivers moving in ways that put pressure on the DBs to make decisions and gave our QB reads and decisions that could be made

over the last few years, I've often looked at what our receivers did and wondered - what are we thinking with patterns like that - today and in the prior game our scheme made sense

Yes I think he is gone when Geno returns. If this was all up to me which it is not I would try and trade Geno or IR him. I would keep JJ over Flynn because he adds a dimension Flitz and Flynn don't but I would not be upset with Flynn as the backup.

Flynn vs Johnson is tough call....Flynn better passer....Johnson more athletic...

Paul Hackett too. It's been a while since we've had an OC that we liked. Unfortunately, Marty came here highly regarded too. I'll give you my judgment on Gailey half way through the season.

I agree. All four of the QB's have looked good. With the exception of Flynn's pick, no other interceptions. Run game looks dominating.

That's a product of what Gailey is giving them.

Tough decision between Flynn, and Johnson, but I have to go with Flynn. Johnson was brought in in case Flynn was PUP. he looks a tad rusty, but good to go.

It's possible at this point that Johnson won't be picked up, and still could be available during the season if disaster strikes.

Seriously, if I'm the Jets I look to see if there is any trade value for Smith.

Good idea. Maybe sombody will offer a conditional seventh for the statistically worst starting QB in football two years running and now out until early - mid October with a broken jaw

It would have to be a team with late QB injuries

It would have to be a team with a GM who wants to get out of the business.

Lol

Poor Geno, hated everywhere. One of the reasons why I hate NY. We don't support our players. Booing like crazy.

Not saying that Geno doesn't deserve to be hated. I just feel like young people will never succeed in NY because we as fans are impatient. This isn't just football but all sports.

Mark Messier, Henrik Lundqvist, Derek Jeter, Joe Namath, Harry Carson, Matt Harvey, Bernie Williams, Mookie Wilson, Jacob DeGrom, David Wright, Noah Syndagaard, Curtis Martin, Mariano Rivera, Joe Klecko, Victor Cruz, hundreds others

Good and great players that do a good job for NY teams are cheered and revered.

Really awful players like Geno who more or less stink get booed

Miami has a really dumb one who likes to make big splashes for crappy QBs...

He grabbed up Teblow for picks...why not Punchy?

Are we going have to hear ridiculous and juvenile anti-Geno trolls on every thread every week of this season? If so, you can count me out. If we're going to cut down on arguing and personal attacks, we need to cut down on the ignorant trolls that foment unrest and basically beg for a response

You gotta put him on ignore - there's a greater chance of Geno making the Pro-Bowl than sg turning civil . . .

Ok guys, don't let this thread turn into a shit show. Back to the game.

Zac Stacy is like a little bowling ball out there, well he looks like one, but does not play like it at all. He's all wiggle.
