ERUPTION: Italy's Mount Etna roars into action

It is amazing that people live at the bottom of this volcano. Every so often it spews ash and the locals treat it the way we do snow with shovels and plows. At night, there is a glow of the lava being released at the top. Very cool to watch and a bit scary.
Best that it releases some pressure bit by bit rather than all at once. Vesuvius is still active and will blow again. Population is significantly denser than in 79AD so maybe not such a good event. You can climb it all the way to the top. If it were here, there would be fences, warnings and a ranger stopping you from going up. There, they figure if you are stupid enough to fall in, well that's your problem.

Florida looks safe but you will feel the New Madrid Fault (SE Missouri) go if it does in your lifetime (and it will eventually). Could be one of the most devastating natural disasters in human history.
As far as volcanoes go, Mt. St. Helens is still a problem, but Mt. Rainer could be worse. Crater Lake might go also. The Northwest has big risks in that regard all through Oregon, Washington and Northern California, and we won't even mention the Yellowstone Caldera, which will finish off the country.
Mt. St. Helens is fascinating to see. When you approach it on the road, you see the top blew off, then you come around the side and you see that a whole side of the mountain blew out. Wow. Looking out from that direction, it flattened trees for as far as you can see. There was sufficient warning though.
