Good news imo
I can't believe Mathis is still available, this is a Pro Bowl Guard, no doubt its because he over-priced his market, but maybe now he's coming down to a more reasonable number, in which case this could be a huge addition for the Jets.
Get it done. There is no downside to signing Mathis. Upgrade for Jets.

If we don't land him, i honestly like our youth at th position.
Either he's smart, and wants to get into practice with his new team, or he's smart and will wait for a team to have a major injury in camp

Maccagnan's statements regarding Mathis are lukewarm. He said they're exploring a potential move, but nothing is imminent. He said the money cannot be unreasonable, and if Mathis has lasted this long, something tells me he's looking for a huge payday.
But yes, he'd be a nice stopgap for two years. He's been a recent pro bowler.
I said from the second he was released he was going to be available a minute. He walked away from 5.5 because he wants 9 mill per.

Yep, after listening to Mac's remarks, it sounds like he told Mathis' agent that we are interested if the price is reasonable, but right now the asking price is too rich for our blood. I think Mac let the agent know that if he's willing to come down to a certain area, we would be very interested in signing the player, so let us know if you come down.
Exactly what I read. He's looking for 3 years $25-30 mill. He was also released after most of the free agent money was gone. This money grab scheme by Mathis and Drew Rosenhaus is going to backfire, IMO.
I didn't know it was Rosenhaus, now it makes perfect sense that a Pro Bowl OG is still out there.

Yes it's Rosenhaus. And you know what? He probably going to get much more then he is worth.
Some where out there there is a team that has Super Bowl inspirations, that loses a starting guard to injury this summer.
They'll pay
Yep, thats exactly what Rosenhaus is counting on, an injury to a contender followed by desperation.

He won't take the deal. Perhaps in another couple of weeks he will. But right now he is playing the waiting game for his last big paycheck
