FA Wish List

The draft will be the priority heading into 2017. That, and hopefully the progression of our 2016 players. But if the Jets do have some money to spend in FA, I'd like to see the following players get some consideration. Most are in that 25-27 age range.

Mike Glennon QB TB. He might be asking for 13-15 per, so probably not gonna happen. But he's my favorite of the available FA QB's.

Latavius Murray RB OAK. A real bruiser who has been bruised up himself a little bit.

Alshon Jeffery WR CHI. He did test positive for PED's last year and was suspended for 4 games. But only 26.

Matt Kalil LT Minnesota. 27 year old former #4 overall pick has been steady but not spectacular.

Rick Wagner RT Baltimore. A solid run blocking stud.

Kevin Zeitler G CINN. Only if Winters leaves via FA. Would be a big upgrade. Former 1st round pick.

Melvin Ingram Edge 3/4 SD. A man can dream, can't he? 18 1/2 sacks over last 2 seasons.

Captain Munnerlyn CB MINN. We need a starting CB now.

Johnathan Cyprien S JAX. Still wondering why we passed on him a few years back. Better than Pryor.

Here's who I would target:

1. Chance Warmack-RG this kid was a very good player this year, and I was one of those who wanted us to draft him the year he came out. Probably an upgrade to Winters.

2. Martellus Bennett-TE A TE is a big part of todays offensive game and having a 1-2 of Bennett and Sefarian Jenkins would be huge, IMO.

3. Dre Kirkpatrick and AJ Bouye- CB Bouye is an up and coming player Mac is probably familiar with from Houston, who was stuck behind 2 veteran starters but has filled in nicely when Jackson has been out. He started 11 of 16 games this year and is only 25. Had 16 PDs and a pick. Kirkpatrick another strong sport starter in a loaded back end for Cincy, I believe these 2 can make for a solid and relatively reasonably priced 1-2 at CB. Kirk, Bouye, Burris, Draft pick in rounds 2-3, Marcus Williams would make for a solid group.

4. Kendall Wright-WR Solid player, only 26-27 I believe and was a starter for most of the year in Tennessee. Would not be expensive and would make for great depth at WR.

5. Jamie Collins-LB Not sure how much hed cost but hes 26. A stud LB, ex patriot and hes def one of the better OLB in this league.

I feel like making these signings, combined with keeping Mangold on a 1 year deal, and acquiring a veteran QB (Tyrod Taylor) would make us at least competitive next year. In the draft take RB-Fournette, OT in round 2, OT in round 3 with the pick we get for Sheldon, use the 2nd pick in the round to take a LB or CB. Round 4 safety or LB, Then use rounds 5-7 to take developmental players.

Not sure we can even afford all this but with such a team wed at least compete next year IMO.

If there is money leftover & he does not cost much

Andre Ellington Yes he had had many injuries but has low milage on him.

His upside is what I like in a third down back......He can go 80 by land or air in a flash.....TB knows him & a change of teams maybe what he needs. Wish he was better on returns but his price should not be to high....

High risk big reward only 27 he would have a few years left.......I think AZ has enough speed & backs to let him go

If we are going to compete and improving the roster with the core players here, then targeting this free agents will give us the best chance to succeed...

Jimmy Garropolo - QB: can compete for starting gig with Hackenberg (Hack might not be ready next year & with Petty he might not be healthy)...

Stepfan Taylor - RB: Powell needs someone equally as competent and productive and Taylor can bring that with more pop in his run style...

Codarrelle Patterson - WR/KR: We still don't have that key guy and Patterson is a proven return specialist, he also can produce as a 3rd/4th option...

Gavin Escobar - TE: Blocking end first, but is capable receiver...

David Quessenberry - LT: Scouted by current GM, in remission from cancer has a lot left to prove...

Byron Bell - RT: as much as Shell could be the guy we need depth just in case and Bell can help solidify either the RT or RG position...

John Simon - OLB: Simon is a vocal leader that is good in both run or pass coverage...

Armonty Bryant - ER: Had a few troubles in his early years in the league but since then has been on the rise, young player has immense talent to be a fierce edge rusher in the right the system...

Josh Robinson - CB: Man cover corner has the ability to interchange as coverage safety...

Duron Harmon/T.J. McDonald - SAF: Depending on which safety position we look to incorporate, Harmon can play a two deep safety role while McDonald can play the single high safety role...

These players I wanted our team to draft, initially now we have a chance to sign them in free agency and give us some stability throughout the roster...

He is worth that kind of money. Should have traded Sheldon for him this season.

Draft Cook or Fournette

Only at a bargain no risk price

Their OL has sucked and he is the leader of that OL.

I like your Qb pick & Taylor is interesting as he has never shown anything in the NFL.....but.....Not much wear on his tires, Knows TB & the cards don't seem interested in keeping/using him.

A little bit of a gamble but could be a good back.....needs a chance

garaopollo is not a free agent. he's under contract for another year. and NE is in no rush to trade him, but if they did, probably would want something similar to what sam bradford went for (a 1st and a 4th)

I don't see a need for Jeffery, Murray, or Wagner... here... I think we are fine at WR... Even if we cut Marshall... Yes I know the talent Jeffery has but at some point we have got to let our kids develop and I think we finally have 3 guys in Enunwa, Anderson and Peake that can be above average Wr's with the ceiling much higher on all of them... I see Enunwa developing into a faster version of Anquan Boldin .... Anderson looks lke the next DeSean Jackson and Peake has the skills set of Brandon Marshall... A Throw in Decker and a raw, developing kid in Jalin Marshall and I think we are ok

Lativius Murray is not needed because we got Powell, we need to use Powell and draft a kid like Christian McCaffrey in Rd2 to compliment him.

Wagner - also we are loaded with young RT talent that have played well especially in run blocking

Agreed on Zietler but only if we can't sign Winters

But sign me up for Ingram, Munnerlyn and Cyprien... I am ok with Glennon but I think if Nick Foles as his contract is setup is cut then he is my #1 guy

I really don't see enough of the NFL to really know what players would be a good fit - however if we let Marshall go (I'd like to keep him on a reduced contract) I'd prefer us to go for another experienced head for the WR corps!

We do need some DB help as well as OL. Ideally we draft 3 or 4 minimum for DB and OL.

For QB I'd rather give Petty a shot at QB1 behind a better OL. FA wise, Glennon or Foles would be my picks (although Taylor would be good too). Money wise for the QB in FA it would depend on whether the CS believe that our future 'guy' is already on the roster!

I'm not as optimistic about RT and WR. Shell could be the answer, but I've gotta see a lot more to be convinced. Qvale is probably going to be retained just in case. Same goes for Charone Peake. Too small of a sample size. I'm kind of down on R. Anderson after watching more of him. He looks like nothing more than a #4 to me. I think we need a true #1 WR, and if we drafted Mike "Megatron II" Williams from Clemson, that would be gold. But Alshon Jeffery might be ready to move on from CHI. I wouldn't pay him crazy money, but he'd be a nice addition to Decker and Enunwa, and our QB's are gonna need all the help they can possibly get.

Forte will be back with Powell, based on his salary mostly. I just like Murray's running style. Similar to Chris Ivory.

Right. And the only way they would trade him to the Jets is if they amputated his throwing arm first.

I agree Shell and Peake was to small of a sample size but Shell graded out very well in his starts and I'd like to see more of Peake as well... Qvale and Ijalana graded out well at RT. Disagree with you on Anderson completely... The guy does nothing but get open...... He just was overlooked many many times this year.. Sorry just don't see the need to wast money on WR's or RT's in FA... And Forte 's contract would be a loss of a million bucks to cut him... But with the RB's in this draft and Powell.. I say cut him... Now.... I am not saying if we went out and signed some of these guys you suggest here that it would be bad move... They would most certainly be very good moves... But I am at a point where I would like to see us develop these young guys and be patient... If we keep them in reserve roles they will never reach their potential and I think we have guys that have some serious potential..

I know we have a lot of holes...but what do people think about signing Eric Berry in FA?

The word out there is that KC will not resign him since hes going to be pricey, but we may have up to $50MM in cap space if not more. I know he would be expensive but hes (I think) 26 or 27 and is tprobably the best safety in the league. hes also a superb leader out there and would do wonders for the locker room. hed be a game changer in the secondary.

Thoughts?

The only motivation that Berry might have to sign with the 5-11 Jets is a lot of dead presidents.

I love it,make him rich and cut Revis. Ever since Jim Leonhard went down our d has never recovered. I'd like a mental giant back there.
