Jets fans are throwing a flag on John Idzik.

The fans behind the "Fire John Idzik" billboards announced Thursday that Dec. 21, the Jets' final home game, will be "Penalty Flag Day" and they will distribute yellow towels that will read "Attention Woody, Fire Idzik! Clean house!"

The fans joined forces with the group that flew the "Fire Idzik" banner over practice after they noticed fans were being ejected from MetLife Stadium for bringing signs demanding the GM be fired.

Signs and banners are against MetLife Stadium policy, but towels are not.

The "penalty flags" will be distributed at sports bars across the New York City metro to anyone with a ticket to the game. One ticket will equal five towels.

Firejohnidzik.com concluded their announcement by saying:

"If Steeler fans can wave their 'Terrible Towels' in our building, then Jets fans surely have their right to wave our 'Penalty Flags.'"

Ah they should go to the parking lot to give them away.

The video of security kicking out the people holding the Fire John Idzik banners is funny. Thought there was going to be a riot

Honestly don't think I've ever seen a fan takeover like this. I don't think woody will be able to avoid cleaning house.

I was thinking about this as well. Our fans have proven their point and we must be heard. Only other example that this comes close to is what happens on the wwe shows but that's on a much smaller scale.

It's going to be interesting to see how this comes out. It's clear that the vast majority of fans want Idzik out. Is Woody really going to fold to the Peon's will? Stay tuned.

Quite frankly if Idzik is fired, I wouldn't give the towel or billboard the credit. For one thing, Woody knows keeping Idzik is not a great selling point for PSLs. Also even if Woody wants to keep idzik, there is no HC worth his wait in salt that would come here. Another losing season like this and Idzik won't last past next season, meaning there is no honeymoon period for a new HC.
So while the towels and billboards may get out some fan frustration, it has minimal affect on Woody compared to other factors.

I think the final nail in the coffin was the empty house at Metlife on a primetime nationally televised game. I think woody was embarrassed.

I agree with you. Also, of the fans that did attend, there were a ton of Dolphin fans!

In all honesty, I agree with a total house cleaning, but I don't see where Glat fits in, he is on the business side. Bradway must go IMO.

I'm not so sure Woody understood that. The Jets have a history of offering sacrificial lambs after each bad season. Rex is this year's offering.

Woody needs to understand that if Idzik is still here not only will his stadium be empty this season, I will be empty as long as Idzik is here.

The empty stadium is one thing that doesn't hurt his wallet as much as thought. The tickets are paid for, the concessions hurt a bit but not devastating. Most money comes from TV contracts, win or lose.

Billionaires hate being embarrassed by commoners. That's why they invest billions in sports teams. Besides the obvious profit, it identifies them as members of an extremely elite Man's club. When the media, starts on this kind of thing, it is very humiliating. Their private club pals laugh at them at owners meetings. Not good for their over-inflated ego's.

Glat is a different story. He is Woody's adviser from the Johnson investment company. IMO if Idzik goes, and all football power is given to a new GM, Bradway will most likely be sweep out.

Hard to say though, Bradway is very respected around the league. It is possible that the last 2 book keepers we had at GM ego's wouldn't let them listen to Bradway, and decided to make football decisions themselves.

An indication of that was leaked to the media after Mike T was fired. Probably leaked by Bradway of course. LOL
