I know we have the Bills in the opener. We're home so it's a game we should win. But I would be lying if I didn't admit Josh Allen scares me.
If he increases his accuracy, he's basically a more elusive and faster version of Big Ben. I know a lot of Jets fans like to make fun of his accuracy issues and I hope it stays that way, because I look at Josh Allen and I see his upside, and frankly his upside strikes fear in my heart.
And then, in Week 2 we have Baker Mayfield coming to town with a ridiculously talented Browns team, the kid has elite weapons at the skill positions out the wazoo, and I think we all know how good he is now. It's not like last year when opinions varied. He ended that conversation last year by breaking the rookie record for TD passes.
Then it's @ NE for another meeting with Tom Brady, followed by @ Philly and a stare-down with Carson Wentz.
So Sam Darnold has got his work cut out for him the first month of the season. By year two the growing pains should mostly have dissipated and I know he works hard and he's been given some shiny new toys too. Le'Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder are not chopped liver, nor is Kelechi Osemele, so this is the year we need Sam to play like a franchise QB and there's no time to waste, because the first month offers no lopsided QB matchups in his favor. We need him to bust out of the gate and instantly put the league on notice.
Lastly, we're also going to find out, quickly, if the additions of Quinnen Williams, CJ Mosley and Jachai Polite will transform this into a ferocious defense.
Jamal Adams asked for more dawgs on this defense and he got them, now go out there and inflict some pain on the opposition.
