That is pretty well what I would expect, as well. The addition of Marshall is so big, with Decker and Amaro already here. Smith can stretch the field, to prevent teams from cheating up too much.
If the line can be average (and I think they can...not much better than that, but not much worse), with an average passing game and a slightly above average ground game, that puts the offense in the middle of the pack. With a stout defense, that's not a bad formula.
Smiths going to see a lot of man-to-man and have opportunities to take shots. the entire offense will be open to him and hopefully they use his mobility a little better than what's we've seen historically. Its in our best interest to do well, but if he doesn't, I think Fitz can steer the ship.
Remember though, Houston had the #7 scoring defense last year, 19.2 ppg, and Fitz with Foster (1600 totals yards, 1250 rushing, and 13 total TDs), Andre Johnson (85 rec) and Hopkins (76 rec)...only got them to 6-6 in the games he started (playing in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL).
I know a lot of people have high hopes for Fitz...but Im a stone cold O'Brien believer, and even in an ideal situation with two top WRs and a top running game, he saw Fitz was a .500 QB and decided to move on. I just hope there aren't tremendous expectations here. Andre Johnson caught 85 balls for 930 yards and Hopkins got 76 for 1200...not because the wrs cant get down field...but Obrien knew the limitations he had at QB. Id expect similar numbers and record with fitz...not 14-2 or 12-4 as some may think...
