tell you what.. go back over there & start suggesting their membership should visit JFU & tell me how that works out.....

Actually, someone who is a moderator here (although he wasn't at the time) mentioned JFU on JN. That's how I found out about JFU, and how I became a member. All are welcome at JN, just as they are here. And BTW, I have mentioned JFU at JN myself, many times. No one has ever said anything about it. Although one guy did make a joking reference to the United part of our name, seeing how much we Jet FANS disagree on things.

Are you afraid of something?

no.. i just don't see how encouraging our members to visit another jet board is a good thing for JFU.. do you??

Absolutely. The more Jet fans there are in any group, the better. It does not hurt JFU in any way if someone who posts here also posts there. In fact, it actually helps. The more of our members who are also members there increases the chances that when a topic comes up where it makes sense to mention this site over there that someone will notice and actually mention JFU, increasing the chances of new members here.

I visit both sites myself many times throughout the day. What's wrong with that?

Interesting. So you're something more than an internet GM? Which NFL team are you the GM for?

And actually, I would be happy with either Geno or Fitz as the starter. I'd like to see them both compute for the position. I was very happy with the way Fitz played last year, but I also feel Geno deserves another chance. If Fitz had been willing to return at a reasonable pay increase, something with a relatively low guaranteed amount and significant playoff-related incentives, that would have been great. But when he decided to play hardball with the Jets, I figured to hell with him. I'm more interested in using the cap money to do things like keeping Wilkerson happy, rather than pissing it away on a charitable overpayment of Fitz.

well no. but i'm not the one suggesting that the jets are being taken by fitz or saying they need to issue ultimatums that he play for $5 or 6 mil or take a hike.

if you are happy with geno, that's your right. i have no interest in seeing him the jets QB.

And I'm not the one who responded to a fellow Jet fan's opinion with laughter, in an attempt to de-legitimize even having that opinion.

You certainly have every right to your opinion, and I would not laugh at you for having that opinion, which is certainly a legitimate opinion to have. I hope you will agree I have a right to my opinion, and it really shouldn't be the cause of laughter.

Not sure who you have in mind from Oakland, but let me suggest a different example from the same town that would make your point better: Jim Plunkett. Bigtime journeyman who never did anything until he got to the Raiders. And then he won two Super Bowls for them.

And BTW, even if Fitz is the second coming of Jim Plunkett, at this point his pay should be just what I said. If he wins us a SB, then he can renegotiate.

My guy was Rich Gannon, but Plunkett (one of my favorites who should be in the HOF) is another great example offered by Danny.

The 12 million this year is very palatable for a guy who came off of a career year, who had an above average season for a QB, but would give him an "average" starter's salary. All good with it.

Why would any fan want to see Geno be the starter and not see Fitz get a chance to build on something he started last year. For the life of me, it makes no sense.

The guy is a journeyman QB at the end of his career. He has zero options other than playing fro the Jets or retiring. Fitz is schooling the Jets on how to do business, and the Jets are coming out really bad in this transaction. I had hopes for a better future with the new FO. Those hopes have been reduced to ashes if this rumored offer is really true.

And I'm not the one who responded to a fellow Jet fan's opinion with laughter, in an attempt to de-legitimize even having that opinion.

the lol was at the seeming hysteria that somehow signing fitz to a market deal would render macc to the trash heap of GMs. and $12 mil for a starting QB would rank as 22nd on the list of 2016 QB pay

nothing.. of course..

the cross pollination you're alluding to sounds great in theory but how much have you seen to this point??

& I get it.. all anyone needs to do to find other jets forums is google it & find the most active to least in a matter of minutes.. so no, we're not giving away secrets with our back & forth..

elias & gmf are more qualified to speak on it.....

Well, I did not really sat I want to see Geno be the starter. I said I think he should get another chance. He was rushed into starting, and wasn't ready. I'd like to see another QB competition. But I would not be upset if Fitz was given the starting position.

I disagree it is a market deal. Fitz's value derives from his being a free agent, with a complete lack of offers. That's the real market. And the Jets can use the cap space elsewhere.

Quite a bit, actually. Even at least one of the moderators here posts there. And do you really think someone from here who joins there would quit JFU? Why would anyone do that, assuming both places are welcoming?

i can count on one hand the crossover from JN to JFU.. am i wrong on that??

& i know about one of our mods that still posts at JN & that's fine.. like you, he still enjoys the place.. i don't.. & just like here, i'm a founding member there as well..

it's a good forum but there is an element there at its core base that i'm just not a fan of.. so when JFU started up it made it easy to cut ties..

I don't really know how many crossover posters are on both sites. But there seemed to be a lot more during the season. We will probably have to wait for things to pick up to have a better idea. Each site has its unique aspects, and I enjoy both. But I respect your right to a different opinion.

You might be amused by it, but if you head over to Jet Nation, you may be surprised to see that Geno is preferred over Fitz by a majority of those who have voted in a Fitz vs Geno poll. And BTW, I did not vote for Geno. I voted for the 3rd option which was to take Fitz, but only if he was willing to sign for a reasonable pay increase.

That just surprises me. If the FO was that confident in Geno they would have moved on from this Fitz cluster already, so that should tell us all we need to know.

Well, the poll is just of Jet fans, not FO execs. It seems most fans want Geno. Go figure.

Basically this poll has to do with compensation and worth more than Geno vs Fitz in potential...

Everyone believes that Fitz doesn't deserve to get paid and rather move on and give Geno a crack at the starting role while we develop our two prospects...

as for JFU members & Jet Nation members don't care who goes where but no redirecting members to other forums just take a snap shot or copy and paste article here from now on... that goes for everyone but back on to the subject hand, if there are people that think Fitz earned a sizable increase in salary then they must re-watch every game to witness Marshall & Decker bailing him out on a lot of errant throws that should of been interceptions... His production was a product of the talent surrounding him not him by himself... When asked to make a play he failed, not once but many times and that isn't a quarterback one pays handsomely...

So in this case Geno entering final year of his rookie deal vs. Fitz expecting north of $12 M annual, which one makes sense? Drafted two quarterbacks to develop moving forward yet everyone expects us to cave into the Harvard's demand of a payout he didn't earn...

Think we agree but I'm not sure. Would like Fitz back as starter, but at the right price. About $6M seems about right, plus incentives. Otherwise, give Geno another shot. Meanwhile, use cap savings to keep guys like Wilkerson happy.

I see Fitz as no more $8 to $9 annual prior to his seeking $18 per...

He is a bridge QB that had a banner year because of the system and talent surrounding him...

I see this holding out effecting the team, just look both starting receivers are also no shows to OTAs b/c of this contract dispute in compensation...

The Jets FO needs to make a decision now and either sign him or walk away... To make things more evident they need to make an example of one or both of those two idiots (Marshall & Decker)... If they are so willing to boycott off season workouts to help their quarterback get paid then maybe they need to fork over some money to him to get everyone back on the field otherwise roll the dice with Geno or Petty and move on from this ridiculous situation...

Right now the Jets FO looks like chumps allowing Fitz to ruin this team's successful season last year with all this distractions...

FYI there is no cap space, to make room for Fitz the Jets will have to cut or waive a few players to give him that contract... Yes Wilkerson hasn't signed his Franchise tag but that money is set aside for him and can not be used for Fitz until the Jets restructure or trade Mo...
