chad was one of my favorite Jets. The poster who said Penny had a good deep ball, but was problematic outside of the numbers was right on the money.

Hmmmm, when did that come into play...you guessed it, Schotty Time.

Fitz is a good QB who is playing with some bona fide stars at WR "in the prime of their careers". That has a lot to do with a QB passing the sniff test.

I think he is doing a great job "within the game", but if you notice something this leader is doing, is he is trying to get very raw WR's involved in the game too.

Keep note of that as the season goes on, and those WR's become a more prominent component of the team. Having outlets that have to be accounted for like Owusu, and Smith are going to take pressure of him having to force things to Decker & Marshall when we do face "Big Boy" defenses in the playoffs.

On the bolded. Excellent point. Well done.

Fitz hasn't gotten much production out of Enuwa, and Smith.................Yet. But he keeps on going to them. Hopefully later on in the year, they will be excellent options

Chronically fumbling? He has 8 fumbles in 4 years. 4 of them took place in 2012 when he had 1,263 yards rushing. More fumbles then are optimum but hardly chronically fumbling.

He also has a 6.5 yard reception average.

I'll take his 4.4 career yards per rush in a late season play off push.
LMAO.
I wonder what Mainejet would think of Ahman Green's ball control issues? (37 career fumbles & 1 in 5 playoff games.)

The top 23 fumblers in NFL history were all QBs.
It's not until you get to #23 that a RB name - actually 2 of them - appears, with NINETY (90+) career fumbles each.
Franco Harris (90+10) & Tony Dorsett (90+12).
At #27 all-time is Walter Payton, with (86+4).

It's just a fact of NFL life that 90 of the top 100 fumblers were QBs & NOT RBs.
RBs have one job - hold onto the rock.
If they can't do it, they won't be RBs very long in the NFL.
Eric Dickerson was the 5th worst fumbling RB in NFL history.

"Damn he was good. 1st draft choice in the same draft as Brady and Pennington was every bit as good."
.
As a Pats fan I totally agree with that. - "Back at that time" I almost hated to see the Pats facing the Jets, - figured Pennington would "somehow" pull the game out. - One BIG difference in the teams, and it applies to EVERY team is the coaching - both qb's were young and Brady had better coaching. - I think if Pennington had played on a better team & somehow didn't have those injuries, - he's easily in the HOF along with Brady. - People/fans often forget it's a "team sport" and use ratings - instead of looking at the team some qb's are on, which is FAR more important. - Kitna is another good qb, competitive as all h*ll, - but playing on the Lions at that time, - NO qb is about to put up any good stats. - If Brady & Peyton played for say the Lions or the Browns at that time - and both had the same coaching, play calling and team around them - they'd both be working at a Starbucks somewhere today, with no chance at a SB or the HOF. - While Fitz is similar, a game manager type, which is good, NOT a gunslinger - I'm not sure he's "quite" in Brady or Pennington's class - but you're gonna like him. Cool, doesn't get rattled, but unfortunately for him, has played on some lousy teams. If you guys don't make the playoffs this year - I'll be really surprised.

Fitzpatrick is giving the team professionalism at the QB position that it hasn't had in years.

...and an aspect to the O our opponents haven't seen in years! A QB who will take advantage of an open running lane. I don't want to see him get nuts with it, but he's (a.) nifty (b.) frustrating to D's.

He's either kept our O on the field, or scored quite nicely when all else failed. One more thing to be defended, and not at the expense of a starter's rhythm unlike the WildCat. Goodness Gracious, I don't miss that one solitary bit!!!

Agree... I am wondering is Owusu is available this week? he would really make a difference...

I hope so too. Enuwu, and Smith look very timid. Owusu looked ready to contribute. It would be nice to overmatch NE with three big receivers who can run. Big time WR play is vital against the NE D. breaking tackles, coming back to help the QB, blocking down field is a must, bc the Pats "do their job."

the dbs are a different story. not that they don't do their job, but if you have huge games from the WRs, all of their scheming up front is neutralized.

Enuwu was targeted 3 times yesterday, and caught 2. Not bad for a guy in his role. I understand what you are saying about being timid. For a guy his size, I think 6'2" 225, he should be more aggressive. Perhaps that will come with getting more confidence.

Yep, I'm very anxious to see Owusu get some reps. At 6'2" with 4.31 speed, he can turn a game around in a hurry. I agree Owusu looked ready to contribute in camp. Looked tough underneath, and seemed to be running good routes. That's what sets his 4.31 speed up for the home run ball.

Maybe we'll see him against the Pats. They probably won't have a game plan for him. They don't have much film on him just yet.

as far as i'm concerned the only thing left for fitzpatrick to do at this point is maintain his gameplay..

his team obviously believes in him (& so do i) because he's a baller!!

has he bounced around a bit?? yeah.. but he's still standing & giving petty time watch, study & learn..

fear the beard!!

MUST SEE: here's a video of Fitzpatrick on his td throw to BM. For some reason it makes me like him even more. Idk why....

It's like 13 said the guys a Baller. After the 18 yard TD Fitz's eyes were as big as saucers, and all glazed.

Ya can tell the team loves him. On an Ivory run that bounced outside and gained 12, Fitz actually left his feet throwing a block. He didn't exactly flat back the guy, to say the least, LOL, but he did get a piece of him so Ivory could get around the corner.

He's a hard guy not to like. Wish he had a stronger arm, but I'll take him. he fits with the team.

My biggest fear is he'll get hurt playing all hell bent.

My biggest fear is he'll get hurt playing all hell bent.

My biggest fear is he'll try to do too much and end up killing the team in the process. (For a recent example, see a certain star WR attempt an ill-advised lateral)

If he stays within himself and that's still not enough, that's fine. There are PLENTY of players on this team who need to carry us to victory before Fitz should have to . . .

look at it this was FL, if fitzpatrick did have a stronger arm we would never have been in position to scoop him up!!

he's only 32 & game manager my ass!! dude is a baller!! why has it taken this long to shine since his early days in buffalo, i can't say.. but why can't he be our starter for the next two, three years letting petty watch & learn??
