Furious 7

I went to see the latest installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise with a few friends tonight and I had some thoughts that I would like to share without giving away too much of the film's plot.

If you enjoy action, fast cars, and hot girls, then Furious 7 won't disappoint. It was overall an entertaining film with lots of action and cool stunts but I can't help to wonder how this franchise has gone to seven films. The movies themselves have really bad writing and over the top scenes that are incredibly unbelievable. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed watching each and every one (including Tokyo Drift) but Furious 7 was by far the least believable installment with really bad one liners and a ridiculous plot (and subplot). Although the fight scenes were visually stunning and suspenseful, I just couldn't help but uttering "bullshit" after each and every one. I know this is not the kind of film one goes to for the writing but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I could buy into what was actually happening.

The movie is bound to make millions because most people have invested in the franchise and the likely hood of people seeing Furious 7 is high since they have probably already seen the last 6. Also, I'm sure people are curious about how the writers tackled the tragic death of Paul Walker with his character in the film. I don't want to give away how they dealt with his real life death on screen, but they did include a tribute for him towards at the end of the film, which I thought was powerful and in my opinion the best part of the film. There were a lot of references to the first film as well, which had me thinking that this should be the last film in the series.

For those of you who saw it, what did you think?

Saw it last night. Every word you wrote is spot on to the point of having nothing to add. There were times that they did things that were so silly that it was funny. Can't discuss them here to avoid spoiling it for others.

The Mrs. wanted to know if you can really kick a guy in the nuts with martial arts skills several times in a fight and it only make him madder. I (very strongly) informed her that it is not the case but I better not make her mad for a few weeks

So do they make "8" without Paul? They certainly set it up.

it should die with paul........no pun intended but seriously i hope it is not one of them that try and keep it going with only 1 or 2 mbrs from the cast like the third one although i did like the third better than the second one.

Can't wait to see 7

I heard that they have 8 and 9 already locked up contractually and that the guy from Tokyo Drift is going to be replacing Paul Walker in those installments. They also are planning to do a spinoff movie for the Rock's character.

Personally, I think they should just end it. They had a good long run but now without Paul Walker it's just going to be overkill...
