Game Thread: NY Jets @ Buffalo Bills

I had to take a TO from this game at halftime. I couldn't bear watching anymore of it. I sensed what was coming and couldn't handle losing to Ryan. I regret quitting on them, but we'd come too far to lose this way.

After thinking about it, I'm proud of the way this team played most of the year. 10-6 is a respectable record, even though it didn't land us in the playoffs (I'm still baffled by that concept: 10 wins, no playoffs?). But Fitzpatrick was outstanding and the Jets are on the right track. Macc and Bowles are the answers. Fitz earned another year while we groom Petty (and maybe another young QB). This team only needs a few tweaks here and there.

Our future is bright. The Jets are going in the right direction.

I get your point, but there's a difference when its the last game of the season and its WIN AND YOU'RE IN, you can't be dismissive of a loss of that magnitude and imply all losses are the same in terms of how much they sting. That makes him sound painfully unaware of just how devastated Jets fans are tonight.

I agree , for 41 years I'll say again maybe next year.
When you get this close you HAVE to get in . Next year is a whole new animal , no idea what your going to get with injuries , different teams improving, blah blah blah.

If the choice is 10-6 and NOT making the playoffs, or 4-12 and a TOP 5 Pick in the draft, give me 4-12

i doubt there is a single player on the jets who wishes they were on the titans or browns or niners and having a higher draft pick. i love the draft, but i live for the 16 regular season games. i'd rather win 10 of those, play meaningful games till the end, and pick later than go through another lost year so we can have a top pick.

These are grown ass men and shouldn't need to be motivated. The situation should have been plenty. These Jets didn't want it bad enough and performed accordingly. That rah rah shit gets you 8-8, 6-10, 8-8, 4-12 and 8-8 with another team.

If we did everything we could, we would have showed up like a team on a mission today, beat the Buffalo Bills, and we would be in the playoffs. Thats the truth of it, Tebow, fact of the matter is, we DIDN'T do everything we could because we didn't finish the job when we were 60 minutes away and controlled our own destiny.

I won't sugarcoat this ... I SAW IT COMING ... I saw this letdown coming ... unfortunately our head coach didn't see it too, or if he did, he didn't do enough to combat it ... so everything we accomplished this year was for nothing.

curious what you would have done? do you think bowles and the players didn't know that everything was on the line today? do you think bowles didn't make the team practice this week? it's a lot easier to sit on the internet and pretend like if only the coaches "had the team ready" that the outcome would have been different.

so tell me what coach ham would have done to ensure a victory

For everyone talking about draft slot, they fail to recognize that it is more than offset by being a more attractive landing spot for free agents.

I am still sick to my stomach after this loss today. That was quite a dagger as I really felt we had a chance to make a good run in the playoffs (maybe not so much after Wilk broke his leg but still...)

It just wasn't meant to be. Apart from the fumble recovery by Revis, we didn't get a single break in this one. And when you add being away, playing against the wind to start with, facing Rex who knows defense and badly wants to be a spoiler (playing with the house's money), it was a difficult challenge, and we just didn't pull it off.

That being said, some of you were overplaying the aristocratic "I am cool, we had a 10-6 season" stance. It is human psychology for most fans to go off the reservation when they smell playoffs and their team chokes at the finish line. Moreover, a lot of Jets fans who have watched our team for many years are thirsty and impatient for success, so I will certainly give them a pass for being pissed off. There are, of course, the exceptions, like mainejet, who are not even worthy of any discussion and bring only blind negativity with "The Jets suck" comments.

It's gonna be a long offseason, but it will be interesting to watch how it evolves because we have a lot of holes to plug along with the challenge of keeping a strong DL intact. This board certainly makes all that a hell of a lot more fun though!

I am on board. We had a successful season. There's work to be done and I expect us to get there with the proper additions to the team. We will probably regress on the defensive line but overall expect upgraded at LB and Oline.

Hopefully Fitz can repeat his production.

The bills were not a good matchup for us , it happens all the time in football. They have players that are tough for us to deal with . Plus they were playing with nothing to lose . I was worried the last month about this game .

The offseason starts today. If Maccagnan can be half as good as he was last year, were in good shape

think they were more worried about Watkins beating us deep and felt okay with him catching it short... who knows really but feel we could of done certain things different on all three phases...

yea but Bowles/Rodgers have been playing a zone defense the majority of the time not including this game...

in the zone concept Revis is off man coverage and is responsible for not letting them catch n run long gains...

it was the under man that didn't do his assignment well, if at all...

I like the zone when you mix it up but Revis looked weird today. Cant explain it need to look at some film

we weren't healthy in the secondary today Dion Bailey was out
linebackers also were nicked up but in the end believe it was keep the receivers in front don't let them get behind the secondary as Watkins did in the first meeting this season...

at the end of the day we need to remove the dead weight and get younger throughout the entire team...

Its 4:55 am here.... I woke up 3am because of a dream about Rex of all things. I read most of the posting and believe me feel the pain.

However, as some have stated our season was a success even if we didn't get to the PO. 10-6 is very good (esp. where we came from)... WE played - for the most part - competitively in all but probably three games this year. We had a new coaching staff, new players, new FO, etc. so while I am upset we lost - we didn't execute on the field, period. That is what lost us the game.

Roster changes will be made... This team will not be the same next year.... and while I am upset we will not be playing as I said in other postings I am glad we have the GM, scouting dept and coaches (except for maybe April) because we are headed in the right direction not treading water like we have for the past few years.

Bowles SCHEME was to allow Watkins to catch ANYTHING underneath. And even when it was apparent the game was slipping away, Bowles was still the same stubborn, retarded, lazy stiff that approved such an abomidable failure of a gameplan.

I would say that's a bit overboard. I am also disappointed that Bowles didn't make some corrections, but had thompkins made that catch we win. If Fitz doesn't force that part to decker in fields goal range, we won if or defense could hold one drive. I think they had no confidence in the kicker, getting folk back will change a lot.

Coach Bowles also ripped this team a new one, fired coples, and inspired a5 nearly 6 game run to the playoffs.
