it still seems Kalil isn't up to speed with the playbook or if he is then his undisciplined play is going to be an entire season long dilemma. Harrison isn't the best snap to blocker but at least he knows the playbook and understands his role. this offensive line at best is a bunch of retired parts trying to be sub par.
Beachum showed last season he can be decent when we switched Long to left guard but since acquiring Osmele his play has fallen off a cliff and that is being nice. Shell on the other side has taken a step back coming off his injury he suffered last year. As of right now there is no future with either of them. Can Edoga develop into something functional as a center piece of this offensive line or is this the new norm?
I kinda give a break to Winters and Osmele as they are as only good as their counterpart at center and since he is playing like crap they will continue to struggle. As I post in another thread this blocking scheme seems to put us in a disadvantage and there is no bright spot moving forward.
We know four of our five starters can zone block. Timing is an issue, but the smart move would be inserting Harrison to get the run game going. Harrison is a decent pass blocker but if he had the ear of Kalil to help him for now from the side line maybe this team can gain control of the line of scrimmage.
Bell is a bell cow back but this over utilization that he has to be the only offensive weapon to touch the ball on almost every down is atrocious game planning. we see the offense line up with Montgomery in the backfield only to have him rotate out every time for Bell to replace him, no offense every time players on defense, and fans know Bell is going to get the ball. This obvious play calling is why we are 0-3. We have four backs on the roster, we use one of them on offense as the only runner, majority of the time instead where he can utilize a dual or even trio option with multitude of sets to take advantage of teams stacking the box or over blitzing.
Bell and Montgomery are both known for the ability to line up at receiver. Add in RA, Crowder would give any signal caller options in the passing game. Berrios showed he can be a sleeper option, we know Thomas and Bellamy can bring a solid rotation for the passing attack but for whatever reason Gase doesn't believe in anyone but Gase. When all else fails Gase will blame the players rather taking blame for his job as the Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Play Caller.
