The best cheap option they had. Geno was good with the Seahawks not long ago and everybody here was saying how it proved the Jets couldn't develop QBs. I would prefer to trade for Mac Jones but that is still on the table. I just hope they give Geno a good line and rushing game.
Not that I want Geno, but didn’t he play well when he was on good teams and play poorly when on bad teams? Same as every other QB

2 very reasonable post above by Beresford and Cheatenhater. Smith is not going to carry the team but he can win some games and run the offense. He's a good bridge option and isn't costing much. This team has a lot of holes and Mougey is doing a good job filling them so far
Sure theres seemingly a lot cap space but $90 million in dead cap means they have to be prudent with who they sign. There's not a lot of players under contract Good mix of quality young players and a couple of still high performing older vets on short cheap deals. This team has lacked leadership and those older vets were signed to provide just that.
