i think we all agree that we should be pissed at IK for hitting and injuring any teammate in a fight, let alone your starting QB.
my question is should geno, as a supposed leader of the team, have done something to avoid the escalation of whatever led to IK's punch. admittedly we don't know the details of what happened. but it's being described as a school-yard situation and there was some back-and-forth between the two.
if this was the year geno was supposed to grab the starting QB job and take hold of the team, then as a prospective leader of the team, he needs to do more to avoid the situation. again, i'm not blaming him for what was obviously a cheap shot from IK. but he put himself in that position by engaging in a 6th grade level spat with a teammate and reportedly sticking his finger in IK's face. this situation must bring into question the level of maturity of geno, in what was being looked at as his make-or-break year to take hold of the starting QB position.
IK deserves the lionshare of blame for punching his teammate and breaking his jaw. but geno doesn't come out of this looking too good either.
