Get your facts straight. I did not "blame" Geno. Re-read my second sentence. It makes the same point as your next to last sentence.

If the "stupid" remark refers to me, I will not let that pass. You get to disagree with me; that's fine. You do not get to call me "stupid."

I didn't call you stupid and we both agreed on your second sentence, that there is no appropriate reason Geno should have been punched. I said it's stupid to say Geno could have prevented the punch in the face...no arguments with coworkers warrants a punch and it's impossible to predict who is crazy/stupid enough to actually punch someone in the face...

Do you really think this was JUST about the $600? The event was at least two weeks ago, and it specifically says "words were exchanged".

I know some here think Geno can do no wrong, but common sense (and Revis/Bowles) says this didn't have to end this way and BOTH players are responsible . . .

If you replace the name Geno Smith with Aaron Rodgers, and Rodgers said he didn't want to discuss it in the locker room, what did Rodgers do wrong except not know the crazy guy would punch him in the face? Shane on Rodgers for not knowing the guy would punch him in the face over $600. What an idiot? Or is it only dumb because the name is Geno smith?

If it happened to you at work, for a charity event, and you asked to handle the money after work, and a coworker then punched you in the face, it's your fault for not giving him the money when he wants?

I'm not sure if Geno said "we'll handle this after work" about the money. According to the tweet he said that after he got knocked out. He probably didn't want to get his ass kicked lol.

I try not owing people money and when i get asked for it, i give it. Money for some people is a sensitive topic. Geno should know that his buddy is feeling short on money and should have given it to him. What's $600 to him anyways?

This is probably more about Geno Smith not showing up to the event after a promise than it is about the money. IK was probably upset about that. But that's just me speculating based on how i would feel.

Right or wrong makes no difference here.... Geno absolutely lost the locker room today.... Anyone that thinks him getting into an argument with IK over $600 or whatever and letting it escalate to a point of him getting his jaw broke is going to sit well in the locker room is a fool..

Geno loses a lot in this altercation much like Sanchez it may be the last straw for him as a Jet.. He may need to go somewhere else to try and recover.... I was rooting for him but the NY media will hyperbole this to the point where he will downward spiral... He isn't mature enough to weather the crushing NY media.

I could be wrong but all signs point to him to continue to fail here in NY

FACT #1 -- The event took place a month ago.
FACT #2 -- words were exchanged that led to the punch (according to reports)
FACT #3 -- Revis said he was "clearly disappointed" that Geno didn't resolve earlier
FACT #4 -- Bowles said it was a "6th grade argument" that never should have escalated

If there was one backup QB in the league I'd be targeting as a GM, it'd probably be Logan Thomas in AZ.
Originally a 4th round pick, Thomas is of a size with Roethlisberger and Newton, played 40 starts and 47 games at VT, and has the arm, foot-speed, and athleticism to succeed if he is coached up properly by someone who knows what the hell training QBs is all about.
That's not to say the Jets organization currently employs anyone in that aspect that does, just that if they did Thomas could prove to be a long-term healthy QB for the next decade and like Roethlisberger, perhaps become a franchise QB over time.
Big Ben wasn't all that in his 1st couple of seasons as a starter either. In fact, was downright shitty in '06 & '08 - 3 & 5 years into the league - but look at him now.

Currently AZ isn't all THAT high on Thomas, since he hasn't immediately proven to be what they were looking for, but over time, and for a reasonable draft pick, HYATT™ believes the deal is there to be made.
Acquire him, send him off to Favre training camp for a while, and when he recovers, you've got yourself a confident live gamer.

Regardless of fault,and the opinions on the different quarterbacks, this is a huge blow to the team. Clearly, Geno was going to get the bulk of meaningful minutes during the preseason games. He *needed* this time to ingrain the new offense and to acclimate himself to Marshall, etc. I hope that Fitz does well, but if he gets injured or plays poorly, we are screwed. From what I've read, Petty is nowhere near being ready. Any vet that we bring in will have been cut by several teams. As for Gino, whenever he returns, his next live action will be his first with the new system. My main problem with Gino has been that he is slow to process things and therefore makes poor decisions. Now he will not have the opportunity to work on this facing "live bullets."

Too bad this happened as we needed to see if Geno was "the man" or not? So far Geno is a lesser than JAG QB who has proven very little. Everyone needs to look at this realistically: stinks he got hurt but he hasn't shown anything other than 2 weeks into camp he hadn't thrown a pick until yesterday; big deal. Oh, and he had a perfect rating in a meaningless end of the year game. Nice but it means nothing.
If the other QB's stink then he will get his shot again. I am hoping that the others make it work.

Stinks he got hurt this way but players are always one hit away from not playing. Meaning: If Ryan gets hurt ...he gets hurt, can't worry about that.

This is such a NYJ moment and seems like this shit could only happen to us. Now ofcourse that's not the truth and this could happen to any team but it just feels and seems like it could only happen to us. What's the light at the end of the tunnel here?

PLEASE don't tell me its Fitz taking the reins and leading us to a playoffs. This may be true (I personally don't believe it but it could happen). But what's the true light at the end of the tunnel here? Petty coming alive and being the next Russell Wilson or Tom Brady? If not him then the Heath kid?

We suck this year and draft our true franchise QB this coming draft? If not that then does Geno come back early (like week 4) and take us to the playoffs? Give me something to hold onto other then Fitz because as much as we all may debate, I think we all can agree Fitz is not our future.
