FACT #1 -- The event took place a month ago.
FACT #2 -- words were exchanged that led to the punch (according to reports)
FACT #3 -- Revis said he was "clearly disappointed" that Geno didn't resolve earlier
FACT #4 -- Bowles said it was a "6th grade argument" that never should have escalated

Feel free to tell me where my "Geno hatred" is clouding my posts . . .

Did revis ever say Geno or did Cimini assume he was talking about Geno aNd you're running with it?

Are we still arguing about if a guy getting punched over 600 dollars is the fault of the guy who got punched? how stupid does that sound...it can only be a bias poster arguing that side of the fence...

If there was one backup QB in the league I'd be targeting as a GM, it'd probably be Logan Thomas in AZ.
Originally a 4th round pick, Thomas is of a size with Roethlisberger and Newton, played 40 starts and 47 games at VT, and has the arm, foot-speed, and athleticism to succeed if he is coached up properly by someone who knows what the hell training QBs is all about.
That's not to say the Jets organization currently employs anyone in that aspect that does, just that if they did Thomas could prove to be a long-term healthy QB for the next decade and like Roethlisberger, perhaps become a franchise QB over time.
Big Ben wasn't all that in his 1st couple of seasons as a starter either. In fact, was downright shitty in '06 & '08 - 3 & 5 years into the league - but look at him now.

Currently AZ isn't all THAT high on Thomas, since he hasn't immediately proven to be what they were looking for, but over time, and for a reasonable draft pick, HYATT™ believes the deal is there to be made.
Acquire him, send him off to Favre training camp for a while, and when he recovers, you've got yourself a confident live gamer.

Remember that vick commercial where he throws the football out of the stadium? For Thomas he does that on a 5 yard out. He's the least accurate QB in the NFL since drunkenmiller. Falls right in line with your Josh freeman love fest. Oh HYATT and his QBs.

LOL -- so when you quote tweets they're "legitimate sources of information", but when I do it's "running with Cimini nonsense". (And pretty convenient you ignored Bowles' opinion on the matter)

And I know you don't care much about facts, but I never said it was Geno's fault he got punched. I'm simply tired of making excuses for him every time something goes wrong, instead of praising him because things are going right.

You can keep waving your "week plus of no INTs" pom-poms (I don't care that they've expired -- I know how much they mean to you), and I'll keep regretting the fact that we were ever in a position to think Ryan Freakin' Fitzpatrick might potentially have to save our season in the first place . . .

This is such a NYJ moment and seems like this shit could only happen to us. Now ofcourse that's not the truth and this could happen to any team but it just feels and seems like it could only happen to us. What's the light at the end of the tunnel here?

PLEASE don't tell me its Fitz taking the reins and leading us to a playoffs. This may be true (I personally don't believe it but it could happen). But what's the true light at the end of the tunnel here? Petty coming alive and being the next Russell Wilson or Tom Brady? If not him then the Heath kid?

We suck this year and draft our true franchise QB this coming draft? If not that then does Geno come back early (like week 4) and take us to the playoffs? Give me something to hold onto other then Fitz because as much as we all may debate, I think we all can agree Fitz is not our future.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...jets-incident-i-hold-both-of-them-responsible

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Darrelle Revis has been through the wildest parts of the Rex Ryan era, including a mid-huddle meltdown in a season finale that saw a franchise star (Santonio Holmes) benched on a potential game changing drive.

But he's never seen anything quite like what happened on Tuesday here at the Jets' training facility.

"I hold both of them responsible," Revis said of Geno Smith and IK Enemkpali, whose locker room scuffle resulted in a broken jaw for Smith and Enemkpali's release. "Just how it all played out at the end when you gather all the information, but at the same time, you gotta move forward. There's nothing really to harp on no more."

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...two-to-tango-fitzpatrick-could-remain-starter

Hours after initially announcing that quarterback Geno Smith had his jaw broken by recently released linebacker IK Enemkpali, Jets head coach Todd Bowles further elaborated on the incident that shocked the league on Tuesday.

Bowles didn't give away any specific details about what Smith and Enemkpali were fighting over, which he previously described as "something very childish that 6th graders could have talked about." But in his press conference following practice, Bowles did not absolve Smith for his role in the fight, placing at least some blame on his quarterback.

"It takes two to tango," Bowles said, according to ESPN reporter Rich Cimini.

I agree Fitz is not the future, and is only here because our QB corp was so weak to begin with.

Having said that, the last time something like this happened we were ripping Rex for leaving Sanchez in during a meaningless Snoopy Bowl game. Looking back, I don't think it mattered much in the big picture of Jets football.

Only time will tell if this is SnoopyBowl 2.0 . . .

This is Geno fault. The rain, world hunger, and Donald Trump being born...all Genos fault...sound like Mark Sanchez syndrome all over again when everything was marks fault. Not rex, not Mike t, everything was Marks fault...till it wasn't.

But Geno got punched in the face by Geno apparently...he's responsible for the punch in the face. Ask Hobson and OCCH. Everything wrong with the jets...Genos fault.

SOJ, new people same results same tired arguments. If it isn't Chads fault, Marks fault, or Gebos fault, it will all be the next guys fault. Hopefully our next QB doesn't ask for a punch in the face like Geno did...apparently...

Right or wrong makes no difference here.... Geno absolutely lost the locker room today.... Anyone that thinks him getting into an argument with IK over $600 or whatever and letting it escalate to a point of him getting his jaw broke is going to sit well in the locker room is a fool..

Geno loses a lot in this altercation much like Sanchez it may be the last straw for him as a Jet.. He may need to go somewhere else to try and recover.... I was rooting for him but the NY media will hyperbole this to the point where he will downward spiral... He isn't mature enough to weather the crushing NY media.

I could be wrong but all signs point to him to continue to fail here in NY

Excellent post.... Geno is never going to be a leader of this team (or any team). We can debate about him finally coming around under Gailey, but the fact is he is too immature and to big a dumbass to ever amount to anything. There is no future with Geno Smith..... Fitz is a stop gap..... we all know that, but at the moment he is all we have. And Petty hasn't looked great.... but who actually expected him to look good ??? I personally don't think this team will be any better or any worse with Fitz. We didn't expect a miracle in year one under Bowles. This team was a complete mess last year.... and that cant be fixed in one season. The team has far to many dumb asses (Sheldon, Geno, IK etc) that Bowles will have to weed out . But posters that say Fitz isn't the answer (and we know that)..... well neither is Geno. He is just too stupid......

Let's be honest, Ryan would have been ranked as the15th best qb the last 2 years, geno was 30 and 32i believe. It's an upgrade.

Obviously, the leaders on the team are not too concerned over losing Geno for a couple of months. Mangold, Revis, Bowles...no one particularly upset that Smith won't be under center. Smith is a loser, always will be.

This is a blessing.

Didn't get a chance to read it yet and thanks for posting it. Guessing your saying Plunkett got his chance because of a injury and the Raiders won a SB because of it? If so I hope the rookie Petty or even Heath steps up. This temporary year thing with Fitz is just to frustrating and disappointing.

This is a good year to not be a good football team...

this is really disappointing. i was looking forward to seeing what geno had to offer us this season.

anyone thinking we're going to do poorly enough to get a top pick on a qb is crazy. fitz can stabilize us- i certainly don't expect our season to fall apart under him.

i hope to see geno at some point this season. he may be done here.

Disagree. If you replace the name Geno Smith with Aaron Rodgers, and Rodgers said he didn't want to discuss it in the locker room, what did Rodgers do wrong except not know the crazy guy would punch him in the face? Shane on Rodgers for not knowing the guy would punch him in the face over $600. What an idiot? Or is it only dumb because the name is Geno smith?

If it happened to you at work, for a charity event, and you asked to handle the money after work, and a coworker then punched you in the face, it's your fault for not giving him the money when he wants?

You guys are hysterical.

as much as you are trying to saint geno you have to believe it took two............even bowles said it was a 6th grade argument now i know IK wasn't the only one talking and i doubt he punched him because he didn't pay that moment.

Now IK should not have punched him that is true but don't make it like geno deserves a shrine.

Bottom line if you owe somebody money pay your debt. Don't be surprised if you get punched in the face if you don't.

I live 10 minutes from va tech and if you think petty is still a year or two away then thomas is prob 4 years at the very least
