Bowles has never acted this way in the past so these may be repeat offenders. If I'm Lee really is a disruption behind the scenes he should be cut as well. His production isn't impossible to replace. Need to show the rest of the team that this administration means business
We are also failing to mention Bowles lack of reaction when this happens? Once again for all of you who thought we were a Parcells disciple when Woody hired Toilet, the fact is Todd Bowles is anything but a Parcells disciple. It's almost like he doesn't care? Parcells would have nipped this in the bud the very first time it happened. Hell, none of the players would have ever pulled that nonsense in the first place. They would never have wanted to let Parcells down.
Toilet needs to start laying down the law in a much more decisive fashion. If he did that the players would think twice about crossing him...........
I agree with the over sentiment of this statement but I am beginning to think MO is the problem moreso than Bowles... I see a team playing hard and better prepared this year under Bowles. And I attest that to getting rid of Richardson and Marshall. Better locker room vibe. Unfortunately Mo's contract didn't allow for us to jettison him. Next year he'll be gone and I think you will see less of this.
And Parcells had a few guys that did the same to him over the years. It happens. I know you hate Bowles and I was with you there after last year but I gotta give him credit. He has made a lot of improvement and so has the team
The Jets benched defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson for the first quarter of Sunday's victory over the Chiefs after he showed up late to a team meeting the day before.
And that's not the first time it's happened this year.
According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Wilkerson has regularly shown up late to team's morning meetings this season. Sometimes, he misses them altogether.
The source said a combination of the two infractions has happened at least five times since the preseason. The Jets have a full-team meeting in the morning. When late, Wilkerson, will show up at some point during the team meeting, or just after.
The Jets declined comment through a team spokesperson.
Every time a player arrives late to a meeting, coach Todd Bowles issues a fine. When a player's late arrival count adds up, he gets benched. No specific number of late arrivals is etched in stone for a benching penalty.
Wilkerson, 28, is one of the few repeat offenders on the team. Defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson used to regularly show up late, but the Jets traded him to Seattle before the start of the season. Richardson was benched one quarter last year for tardiness.
Inside linebacker Darron Lee showed up late to Saturday's practice, so the Jets made him inactive against Kansas City. Lee had never previously been suspended by the Jets.
