Update
The list of culprits in this Jets debacle is a long one. You can start with head coach Adam Gase, if you like, and it now feels inevitable that he will pay with his job at some point. You can cast …

I disagree with Brian Costello's bullshit article...
you can not make chicken soup with duck...
yes Joe Douglas has a long term plan who wouldn't the last three GM's have truly screwed the pooch when it came to developing talent long term... so how do you fix it, little by little... JD didn't draft Jamal Adams, he wasn't or isn't going to overpay players for what they did because that hasn't paid dividends for us in the last few years (Muhammad Wilkerson, Trumaine Johnson, Darrelle Revis) costly signings (re-signings) )...
JD isn't tied to Sam but he also sees the potential Sam brings not to mention Darnold is still only 23 years old... Rebuilding the offensive line is not a one year deal... No real off season, no preseason where the line can gel and build chemistry not to mention people are still testing positive left and right... 4 new members of our offensive line are new... Only returnee is Alex Lewis who actually is the only one playing consistently well...
McGovern is a decent center, but Van Roten & Fant have been less than optimal... The rookie Becton has exceeded expectations but too many what ifs early this season and injuries are piling up can not expect to be successful with those hiccups...
I will say when Cameron Clark is ready and steps in, him and Becton should build immediate chemistry since both are similar in styles... after this season with all the lows we will experience the next off season and draft will be critical possibly drafting the other two guard/tackle combo on the right side while drafting mid round center to develop behind McGovern...
With or without Gase next year a full off season post the Covid pandemic the team could have rebuilt the weakest part of the offense in years since Brick & Mangold were the centerpiece...
Every team needs 4 solid options at receiver and we had two entering Broncos game found a third and maybe can develop a fourth... Mims, Berrios and Jeff Smith look to be long term solutions... I know Sam loves his Crowder but Jamison could be a trade chip this off season... Cager has that size, length and athleticism that could develop into a nice player... Heading into next season Vyncint Smith could end up being a solid rotational player and the team can then go out and find that sixth receiver on the depth chart...
Offensively this team is not far off, but with the right coaching and some more valuable time to build chemistry Joe Douglas set us on the right path to fixing what has been broken for years here...
Defensively the team needs better leadership and continue the youth movement... Gregg Williams needs to be gone asap... Players like Alec Ogletree, even Steve Mclendon are no longer those voices that the players should be following...
We will see in the next few weeks if things dont get better the front office led by Douglas will have to take action...
