Bowles/Mac?
franklin should be ashamed of himself for what he did to the kids career..
but he didn't draft him in the 2nd round..
I know Penn State was terrible
But can anyone who follows them explain what happened to Hack - in terms of misuse/system etc? I know he got hit a bunch, but surely there is more to it

I don't follow Penn St very closely but I remember on grudeGr QB camp , Hack and Gruden comparing film from his first year and then when Franklin took over and Gruden asking him why he changed his footwork and Hack saying that was what Franklin wanted. Gruden told him he had to forget everything Franklin taught him and go back to what he was doing before.
This is where Mac gets the blame. The pick. It was a huge reach. The kid was damaged goods, and was overdrafted by Mac.
Basically, when O'Brien was there, he was running more a pro-style offense, using him in the pocket and the such. Franklin is more of a college up-tempo single back spread system, with read option and the such. It basically negated Hack's best skills and made him play out of system.
I prefer a coach who adjusts his system to the talent he has, rather than someone who tries to make the talent fit the scheme.
Regarding the last point, this is why I was skeptical of drafting Mayfield. I don’t believe in drafting a QB and having to construct an entire offensive system around him. The RPO might be gaining some popularity in the league, but we don’t have time to find new players and a new OC to fit that system. I read that Bates was screaming “Put the pick in!!” (for Darnold) when the Giants selected Barkley.
That tells you all you need to know.

That's what I've posted before about what was said by another coach about Bear Bryant, "He can coach his and beat yours and then coach yours and beat his".
