First-Half Trends and Storylines from Today's Game in Minnesota

Vikings Hold 21-15 Advantage: The Jets did some good things in the first half, but two turnovers cost them on the scoreboard. QB Geno Smith was intercepted on the first play from scrimmage and RB Chris Ivory fumbled near the goal line with 7:38 left in the half.
Harvin Feeling at Home: The former Viking is responsible for the Green & White’s two longest plays of the half. Harvin caught a 45-yard pass on the offense’s second possession and a 35-yard TD reception on the next possession. The TD was Harvin’s first receiving TD since ’12, his last season as a Viking.
Young QBs Dueling: Smith and Vikings rookie Teddy Bridgewater have been playing against one another since high school in the Miami, FL area. The rookie has the edge in a battle between familiar foes. He was 8-for-10 for 122 yards and one TD in the first half, while QB Geno Smith was 9-for-13 for 147 yards and one TD.
Jets - 2 turnovers. Gerald Hodges scored on his 27-yard INT return & Captain Munnerlyn's FR take points off the board. 14-point swing.

Rocky Start Slows Jets: On the first play from scrimmage, Geno Smith threw an interception, which was returned for a TD by Minnesota LB Gerald Hodges. On the ensuing Jets possession, a promising drive stalled in Vikings territory. A sack of Smith on third down knocked the Green & White out of field goal range.
Wild 1st quarter. 26 points most scored by both teams in a Jets game since 2001 (Jets 21-6 @ BUF).

Green & White Safety Blanket: DT Sheldon Richardson sacked Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater in the end zone for a safety in the first quarter. Richardson now has 4.5 sacks, which is tied for the team lead and is a career-high.
Run Game Stalled Until Late: Throughout the first half the Jets couldn’t get much going in the run, until the final few minutes of the half. The Green & White rushed 23 times for 89 yards a week.
