I totally forgot about the CFL edge rusher, Freddie Bishop.

Thanks for the reminder ... fixed it.

have to admit we are loaded with talent and potential... making the 53 will be interesting...

Ham, I agree with almost everything you have for the 53 man roster except the following:

Breno gets cut and Ben Ijalana makes the team
Nick Folk is cut and Martin makes the team
Freddie Bishop won't make the team over Bruce Carter
Lastly I don't think we carry 7 CBS... 6 yes...So no Kevin Short probably another OL guy probably Dakota Dozier

Bruce Carter is an ILB and he will be David Harris' backup...

Freddie Bishop is an edge rusher and jobs are up for grab at this position behind Lorenzo Mauldin and this year's draft selection Jordan Jenkins... Even Trevor Reilly almost certainty has a job just because of the high praise this regime gives him... That being said they gave Bishop a weird multiple year contract with little to no guarantees in it but think out of all the other prospects he leads the way for one of or the last spot... But have to say would love Ijalana over Breno but if they haven't moved on from him by now he is likely on the roster unless he gets injured...

hammer did you have archer making the team?? so much for him being a weapon in the return game.. apparently the only thing the kid does well on the field is run really fast..
Yes I did, its surprising too me that someone with his blazing speed can't find a spot in this league.

Made a few more tweaks based on some interesting information someone posted on another board:

You can probably take Jarvis Jenkins off your projected Jets 53 man roster.

Over the cap had interesting article about projected compensatory picks next year. The Jets currently don't get one.

Only way they get one if Jarvis Jenkins doesn't make the roster.

New York Jets: They’re stuck on a net value 7th that’s below the 32-pick limit. The Jets signed Jarvis Jenkins to play behind a deep position with Sheldon Richardson, Leonard Williams, and potentially Muhammad Wilkerson.

Cutting Jenkins would incur $2.25 million of dead money against the 2016 cap, but it would also put the Jets in line to pick up a 4th RD Pick for Damon Harrison.

The Jets GM stated during the draft he was okay giving up a fourth round pick in 2017 (for Shell), because they expected to get back a similar compensatory pick. Only way that happens if Jenkins doesn't make the team.

petty winning the job would take a lot of the sting out of not re-signing fitzpatrick..

& if we don't re-sign fitzpatrick, i dare say it's because the jets already believe petty can be "the guy" next season..

I'm still very confident that Fitz will be a Jet in August. He's only 33 YO, not 43. You see in his enthusiasm that he really loves football. 8-10 million is nothing to sneeze at even if it is a one year deal.

As I've said before, at this point the only card Fitz has to play, is if he doesn't sign, the Jets would (right now) have to go with smith. That's a lose, lose scenario for the Jets. 1) smith sucks 2) Even if he had a "decent" year I don't know why the Jets would want to sign him to a big long term contract. They clearly hold him in low regard. He is a 3 year vet, who has started 2 years, but yet they are going to keep the light on for a 33 YO journeyman QB, who they still say will start when he shows up. I don't know why smith would want to stay here. It's not like he's beloved by the fans.

The only thing Fitz has to worry about is if Petty comes in and lights it up. Even with that I still think the jets would like to have Fitz as the bridge for one more year. Just don't think Hack will be anywhere near ready to challenge at this point.
