Good job Ham.

Of course I have a few comments.

4 QB's ? ------------- Think it's a good call. A few days ago i was leaning toward them trying to slide Petty to the PS. Doubt he makes it through waivers. He's had two good practices in a row. Few more, and maybe a decent showing in the Jags game, and they will have to keep him.

Have a feeling Bishop will be playing in Canada again. Read a few comments during the tweets that he looked more like a run prevent LB'er. He was brought in to rush the passer. Think Reilly retains his spot. No he'll never be an All Pro LB'er, but he's a balls to the wall , play to the whistle kind of guy. He's also an excellent ST'er. Big point for a bubble player. Guys's nuts. Hell, he drove a Uber cab in the off season last year. LOL

Agree that "The Folk Hero" will make the 53, but Martin is giving him fits. Big Leg. Folk has responded, A 60 yard FG from Folk. Really?

Think Martin has to go to the PS

Good Points, all of them.

The QB's, if Petty continues to show improvement as he has the past few days, I think we'll try to trade Geno prior to the final cutdowns. It all depends on Petty and if he can inspire confidence in Bowles that he's ready to serve as a reliable backup, otherwise we'll carry four QB's.

Thanks for the insights on Bishop, I hadn't heard that until now, but I do notice how little his name has been mentioned in the practice reports, so he's not doing anything to stand out. If that continues, I agree that we'll probably keep Reilly.

The PK battle is definitely turning into a contest and I agree that I should have placed Martin on the PS, assuming he doesn't win the job outright. But if he is as impressive in the preseason as he is in practice, I suspect he'll be claimed if he's cut. Nick Folk is 31 and he eats significantly more cap space, so it might make sense to keep the younger and cheaper kid all things being equal. On the other hand, with our tough schedule we figure to be in a lot of close games where a FG (made or missed) can make the difference. Do we trust the young guy to make those pressure kicks, or do we prefer the proven track record with Folk? You can make an argument for both guys. Tough choice if there's no separation.

Romar Morris for Pierce is my Substitution. I guess they could carry 4 Qbs, but I only see Petty making the team if he shows well against the starting defense, meaning he is getting reps ahead of Geno, including games. That will indicate the coaches are looking that way, nothing else

Great job Ham. A couple of points on my end: 1) I think Miles and Middleton are locks mostly for STs, plus Miles has shown some skills in relief of Pryor last year. 2) gotta believe we only carry 2 TEs particularly the way Gailey used Enunwa last year. Also think Davis is a waste, and Sudfeld is a luxury we can't afford with a 4th QB taking up a spot. 3) Think MM will look to upgrade our OL either through trade or waiver pick-up and Breno is bumped off the roster. Look for Qvale to win the job outright.

Yes, I think a move at OL or OLB would not be surprising

I agree with both of you and I suspect its Geno we will try to trade to add an OL, providing Petty continues to shine as he has the last two practices. Thats the key, Petty has to inspire confidence he can be a reliable backup this year. If he does that, look for Geno to be dealt.

We can only hope.

I honestly don't see any scenario that smith will be on the team next year. As you have said it's up to Petty to prove he can play back up on a win now team. As much as I'd like to see smith traded, it's going to be hard to do it.

What I really don't want to see happen is Petty cut, so smith can hang around one more year.

Every year, some previously unheard of player busts out during preseason games and such player is heralded as a future ring of honor inductee.

Problem is that this was/will be done against the third stringers or in annual the Guys-the-Jets-Will-Cut vs. Guys-the-Eagles-Will-Cut game.

So who will it be this year?

This is exactly where I am. Petty is a second year player, an unknown commodity who may be coming into his own. Geno is a known commodity whose contract is up after this year. Why lose out on all Petty's potential just to keep Geno before letting him walk for nothing?

And every so often a Wayne Chrebet, or a Snacks come along. I'd rather look at it as, do we have one of those this year?

Thats why I believe we're either trading (or cutting) Geno, or keeping 4 QB's, and it all depends on Petty. If Bowles surmises he is ready to assume the backup role, Geno is out, otherwise we're carrying 4 QB's. No way this regime is giving up on a young QB they drafted, and traded up in the 4th RD to draft, after one year, and they know QB's are too valuable in this league to assume you can sneak him thru waivers for the PS. Its either Petty is ready to backup Fitz, or IMO we're carrying four. We're not gonna lose Petty over one more year of Geno. Thats not happening.

Lets hope that doesn't happen especially if they have no plans for Geno.

Considering how they have dealt with him this off season, and during last season, I think it's a fair bet they have no future plans for smith.

Love these.

Just to confirm, Catapano over Reilly?

According to the newly released depth chart it may well be. I questioned Ham on that also, but the new depth chart shows that Reilly may be in trouble. At least for now. First camp depth charts are often used as motivational ploys by HC's.

We'll see how it plays out. i like Reilly

From Long Island, so would love to see Catapano on the team. I am a Reilly fan too, despite the fact that he really only has one move when rushing. I was more or less surprised that Bishop and Catapano make this team over Reilly

I was really torn on Reilly, one of my toughest omissions. If Petty proves he can be trusted to backup Fitz, I think Geno is traded and that roster spot goes to Reilly. Carrying 4 QB's made it harder to carry a fifth OLB.
