I agree with both of you and I suspect its Geno we will try to trade to add an OL, providing Petty continues to shine as he has the last two practices. Thats the key, Petty has to inspire confidence he can be a reliable backup this year. If he does that, look for Geno to be dealt.
GD, I hope you're right about trading Geno and yielding an OL in return. To be honest with you, I have always viewed Geno as virtually useless. It doesn't make any sense to me that any team would want anything to do with trouble maker/locker room cancer like Geno is.
However, it occurs to me that I may be just blinded by my dislike for him. I hear these comments from all of you about trading him and I'm beginning to think there may just be some sort of value in Geno.
My cause for alarm this season is specifically the OL. To me, that is the very reason why I am so concerned that they may have a losing record - that coupled with a rather horrid schedule. This team needs to learn how to beat teams with winning records in a hurry.
Trading Geno for a veteran OL, even a stopgap, a stopgap capable of doing a good job for a season or so until Mac can get a better long term solution in place, might be the very thing this team to vastly improve rather quickly.
What I do know is this offense will go nowhere unless they have good blocking. Fitz is a terrible QB when he's under pressure. Part of the reason why he was so successful last season was because he had a running game to lean on. Well, we won't even have a running game if the blocking isn't there.
So this idea of trading one of our worst problems for a huge need just seems like such a great idea. So once again, all I can say is, I hope you are right, this could be big....
