Just a reminder, "Happy New Year" has a particular Jets significance. It was the extent of Walt Michaels' post-season speech to the Jets after the 1981 season ended.
The team met after being knocked out by Buffalo, 31-27. With the team assembled, and Michaels reportedly quite inebriated, he walked into the room, told the team "Happy New Year," and walked out.
