Have you guys written off Devin Smith and Lorenzo Mauldin?

Do you guys think these two young guys can turn into something or are they on the chopping block?

I know that Smith was essentially replaced by Robby Anderson so missing on him is no big deal but what about Mauldin? He played well his rookie year and fell off last year.

Smith will never be anything. He looks so unnatural out there, but then again a Fitz thrown football will do that anyone. Mauldin still has a shot I think.

I am higher on Mauldin right now than Smith, for two reasons. Smith just seems like a revolving door of injuries, which is awful for a player whose main asset is speed, and there is more young talent at WR than there is in a pass-rushing LB. That makes Smith more expendable.

Devin Smith can't stay on the field, so I have no hope for him. Mauldin needs to make more impact plays next year. Not necessarily sacks, but definitely more consistent pressure on the QB. That's what he's there for.

Bilal Powell did very little in his first two seasons and I recall many posters saying he didn't show them anything. I believe Mauldin will be a good pass rusher at the very least and may well become a three down linebacker. He won't be a pro-bowler but a decent starter. IF Smith can stay on the field and we see Petty or Hack at QB, Smith will stretch the field. Or at least try. I just hope he gets to camp on time and stays out there.

I wouldn't write either of them off yet. Like others, I am little less optimistic about Smith, not because of talent, but because he can't stay on the field. If he can stay healthy, he can definitely be a weapon.

Who knows about Smith, the guy doesn't see the field. Mauldin will be an nfl lifer. He will be fine.

I have skepticism of both. I doubt either one develops into anything.

Mauldin has shown some ability... Smith hasn't been on the field much to show much... I think Mauldin will be serviceable and be a good situational guy... Smith I don't see on this team much longer
