How long before we make a switch at HC?

I'm serious. What I saw today brought it all into focus. The problems with this team start/end with Todd Bowles. He is the most pathetic, shit coach I have seen since Rich Kotite. So when does he get the boot??? I really wish they would fire him tonight, but I figure we'll have to endure the rest of this season and next of this shithead. This is a very dark time to be a Jets fan...............

Lets get rid of GAILEY! How many dumb plays he called putting us in 3rd & long? Bowles made 1 mistake & you want him gone when Gailey made 25 to 30? Come on, put the Blame where it belongs, GAILEY!

How about the big three...HC, OC and DC. They are all stinking it up.

It is still early but it doesn't look good for Bowles. I know we all want stability and that is why the team insisted on bringing Fitz back. I understand they had to do this but it is looking like a flop, as I suspected it would. They need to play the kids at QB in the very near future and then start evaluating Tod Bowles. QB succession should be Geno to see if we missed anything, then Petty. I think Geno has been around long enough to face Cards or Ravens. Hack would be the last couple of games if the other two are just awful.

Not soon enough.
The Jets got beat by a better team, with a better coach and a better quarterback.
They could have thrown goat entrails in a full moon and not won this one.
But a well prepared (coached) team wouldn't have folded like a cheap suit in the second half.

I am no fan of Gailey as a play caller, but I would hold onto him because the team has two potential long-term QBs, and Gailey can help them develop. He has more value to the team Monday to Saturday than he does on Sunday.

Agree. The second half was about as flat as I've seen this team. No fire, no emotion. And we were only down 1 point. Bowles doesn't seem to inspire these players. The players are a reflection of their leader.

I think it's time to make the change after this season. I've seen enough. His approach to the game is stoic. He makes no adjustments and the team is always unprepared to play. Happened last year and will happen again this year. The only difference is the schedule. Our easy schedule hid a lot of his flaws.

As would I. This is all conjecture to be clear, but if by some chance Todd Bowles were to be fired during the season, I would want Chan Gailey to serve as the interim HC. Give him the rest of the season to do a nice thorough evaluation of Gailey and his future. Then at the end of the season you would have the idea of who you want to hire and pursue.........

Chan Gailey needs to go, the opponents know what he is doing as he did last year same game plan same base group of players there is nothing different... So far he has misused Matt Forte who is having a horrible year to date... Started off great then dwindled each week...

We have injuries to the receivers, and no running game yet we are still a pass happy offense and this is NOT how this team will turn it around... Todd Bowles can not control an offensive coordinator who is NOT on the sideline with him, Gailey is up in the booth running a game plan predetermined the week before <<-- this is the only reason why we were attempting intermediate passing plays on 3rd & short in a no back shotgun set...

I believe removing Gailey will allow Bowles to reclaim his style of coaching which is motivating groups of players while keeping the coordinators in check from doing out of the norm aggressive play calling...

The sick thing is that he is going to get another shot at this next year at a minimum because Woody hasn't got the sack to admit a bad mistake and can this guy. Think about this. We have to be tortured for at least the rest of this season and all of next season with this guy.

But while we are at it what about MacGagnon? Why should he get a pass. When Idzik left he did leave one great thing behind: $75 million in cap space. (When Idzik took over from Tanenbaum the Jets were in cap hell).

So what has MM done with this? He has had two offseasons. With two drafts and all that money can you name one position on the team which has been substantially upgraded? Upgraded at all (other than punter)? Maybe receiver. He brought in a 31 year old receiver with two or three years left and he has been great. Decker and Enunwa were already here. Except for Carpenter he has brought in no one of note on the OL.

As for his cap management he spent like a drunken sailor on some unnecessary guys such as Cromartie and Ridley and was tight against the cap this offseason and because of his brilliant coup snagging Fitzpatrick from all of the other teams who wanted him for only $12 million (which could have been rolled against the cap next year) the Jets are tight against next years cap without a lot of bloodletting.

Other than Leonard Williams is anyone from the 2015 draft doing anything? As for this years draft the I thought the first two picks were horrible uses of those picks. The rookies this year who are impressing me the most are Burris, Peake and Edwards, all late round picks. Which brings me to another topic: how could MM not have picked up compensatory picks for next season when he had not much cap to work with this past offseason and a lot of free agents? Even Idzik was able to have the foresight pick up 4 compensatory picks for the 2014 draft (one of which was Enunwa).

So I have to give Bowles and MM credit. Normally doing a crappy year i can always look forward and hope for better things next year. These guys took even that away from me. We are screwed for the next 2 or three years.

I think Mac has done an OK job. I would not fire him myself. I do very much question the Darron Lee pick and think it will ultimately go down as a wasted pick on a situational type player. But Mac also did a very nice job resigning Bilal Powell, signing Mo long term, Acquiring Steve McLendon to replace Snacks, Acquiring great and under the radar WR prospects in Jalin Marshall and Robbie Anderson.

Personally, I would keep Mac. This roster has way more talent than they had with Idzik around and that is a direct reflection of the GM. The HC has made all that talent look the opposite.

From Special teams to the training staff. Its like 1995 all over again.

We play vanilla on offense and defense every series. There is absolutley no tactic utilized or scheme.

Our training staff sucks ass as well. Every body was dropping like flies yesterday. Its like one good play..."oh man, Harris is down. YES!!! 1st down...oh shit Mangold is down.
Phenomenal turnover!..Oh FUCK...Sheldons hurt." WTF???

I'am very frustrated. There are no in game adjustments or weekly adjustments for that matter.
A change at QB (sure id love to see Petty) wont fix any of our main issues. Our WR's cant catch when they're wide open. Our running game is a fore gone conclusion. Our defense...WHAT DEFENSE?

Somethings gotta give. There is absolutely no accountability whatsoever.

So what do you think then? This thread asks the question WHEN do the Jets make a switch at QB? Do you think it should start at the top?

I think if we lose this week & next but I don't see it happening we switch to Geno for four or more games. Then Petty for the rest of the season.

We need to find out what we have at QB for next year

Thats the thing brother. We can make a switch at QB all we want but the fact remains our problems run deeper than that. Marshall drops passes to elongate drives on 3rd down. Forte' is misused. Too many shotgun formations on run plays. Too many passes on 3rd and 1.
No blitz shemes or stunts whatsoever. Our players consistantly are bumping into each other.
Revis should be moved to FS but Bowles has no Cojones to make such a move.

My move to shake things up is to set a precedence such as Rex did up in Buffalo and what Harbaugh did this morning in Baltimore. I'd start with Kacy Rogers and have Bowles take full responsibility of the defense. Then we will see if Todd can turn this sinking ship around. Bowles IMHO isn't hands on at all.

Well, a QB change may be in order at some point in the season or another. However, right now (and certainly after today), there are much bigger problems with the team. The problems specifically start at the top. They start with BOTH OC and DC, and who is in control of both units?

Now, I would not be surprised if Bowles at some point decided to name a scapegoat to point the dirty end of the stick at. In that scenario my feeling is that person would be Kacy Rodgers. He would opt to blame him for his own problems and represent Rodgers as the problem child to the media. So I see that being a possible scenario.

All told, like I just posted in the thread starter, I do NOT believe Todd Bowles himself gets fired until after the 2017 season. We, as Jets fans, will need to endure exactly 27 more games of this dumb shit. That in itself is way too painful to contemplate........

That's a rather wise plan brother, but I must say may set up Kacy Rodgers as the sacrificial lamb when the problems appear from the outside seem to start with the HC.

As much of a Fitz fan as I am, his play has been horrid. The offense as a whole looks like shit. The ENTIRE team looks like shit and shoved in it. They do not seem to have any direction. It's like they are sleep walking week in and week out. The call for a punt on 4th and 2 down two scores??? That's a very angering call to make and the HC claims it was his call.
