I think a lot of us feared that the Fitz we saw last year was fools gold.

You should never allow yourself to be fooled by someones career year. Its possible he could be a late bloomer, but far more often than not, the following year you will see a stats correction and the player will revert back to who and what he has always been, not who and what he was when everything broke his way, including ideal weather conditions for the most part and a soft schedule. Fitz is a notoriously bad poor weather QB and last year, expect for the last game in Buffalo, we experienced aberrational Fall like conditions on the east coast, and our schedule was a million times softer than this one.

Lastly, as I pointed out in the game thread, if you look at Fitz's last four games, going back to last years debacle in Buffalo to close out the season, with a playoff berth on the line, Fitz has basically been really good in one of those games, last week in Buffalo, pretty bad in one of them, the home opener verses Cinci, and atrocious in two of them, the season killer in Buffalo and today in KC. One week is one week, anyone can have a bad game, but if you break a players performance down by quarters and evaluate him on that scale, over the past quarter of a season Fitz has been one of the main reasons this team is 1-3. The main reason for the one win, one of the main reasons we dropped the home opener, and the main reason for the losses in Buffalo at the end of 2015 and in KC today.

In other words, this career journeyman is trending in the wrong direction, and the schedule doesn't get any easier.

What is even more depressing is that MacCagnan thought it would be a good idea to burn $12 million against this year's and next year's cap for Fitzpatrick.
Actually the only saving grace is that we DIDN'T get sucked into a multi year dead. Fitz is basically on a one year contract. After this season we can cut bait and we owe him nothing. That said, I believe Mac knew last year was FOOLS GOLD from Fitz, thats why he refused to budge on a multi year contract at big bucks, despite the howling from the media and veteran players on the team, AND BOWLES who made it clear all off season that he still viewed Fitz as the starter if we can get him back, which was making his own case for signing Fitz abundantly clear, but I do believe enough pressure was brought to bear on Mac to cave for the one year at 12 million, something you won't see again if Fitz continues to stink or even gives you an inconsistent season where he's good one week and stinks the next.

I hope all you guys are watching the Cowboys vs. Bears game right now. Just to see what we could have had, if the Jets were smart. I won't be unrealistic and mention Wentz or even Lynch because they are first and second rounder's. Dak was a forth and was well within our reach of drafting and we didn't. Yes we can go back to the Marino-O'Brien draft or any other draft the Jets didn't draft a QB or some other position that we missed out on a clutch to HOF player. Yes we can do that but let's just stick with the most recent draft, last year and we could have this young and upcoming star playing for us right now. If you want to just say shut up and lets root for the players we do have then that's fine, let's do that. What about Petty, he looked pretty good in pre-season and probably would do no worse then Fitz would do for us, so why not?

FYI: With Dak, Elliot and Dez they will probably win 3-4 more SB in the future. They have the next big three!

Fitz is no Vinny Testerverde. This year will prove who he really is, average at best and no where near a SB or even a playoff caliber threat of a QB. Last year was fools good!

Hilarious how quickly Jets fans jump ship on a QB. Just last week Fitz was a badass. Now he's the stinking pile of garbage outside. Quick trigger Jets fans. I've got news for you: he's not getting benched anytime soon. One shit game this year isn't going to make Bowles pull the trigger yet.

We know and that is so sad, so sad!

Next week they play Seattle. If you think his performance is going to get better, you are wrong my friend. Only way the Jets win that game is if Seattle lays an egg also. Matter of fact, this might be the case over the next 3-4 weeks.

Dak throwing bullets in this Cowboys vs. Bears game. Their offense is no better then ours and o-line ain't that much better. Their defense ain't shit compared to ours and he is doing this as a rookie, a fourth round rookie at that. Even Brady sat out a year (if I'm correct) and R. Wilson started out slow for the Seahawks. He could of been doing this for us. So sad, just so so sad!

Note: and yes I will keep nailing this in the coffin until we draft or trade for a young franchise QB. Or atleast play Petty or Hack to see what we have in them.

there are elite QBs that can propel a team with a mediocre defense...
there are good QBs that can bring a team back from a moderate defecate...
there are average QBs that can sustain as game managers allowing the defense to dictate games...
then there is Fitzpatrick a QB in the heat of the moment only targets his guys, ie; Brandon Marshall & Eric Decker... Neither of those two were 100% today and Marshall should of been removed after the first quarter where he showed he was not ready...

an average QB knows that if you use the entire field and all the weapons that the key guys like Marshall & Decker then can take over a game but the way this game plan is target 1 & 2 no matter what and this was bound to happen... Fitz threw it into double and triple coverage all night and it was a nightmare... this is who he is, he believes in his own hype and sometimes that is not good...

they need to get Bilal Powell more touches, his style of running gives a little more oomph to the offense allowing the receivers a little more separation to get open...

I just don't see us surviving the next few weeks unless they make some changes like pulling in the reigns on Fitz...

LOL I know its a typo, but it perfectly describes what Fitz did out there on that football field today.

The only thing is, there was nothing moderate about it, that was a big, hot, steamy one.

Dez will never stay healthy and he takes off too many plays if he doesn't get the ball. He is no Michael Irvin.

Might not have Wilson and that might be their only chance. Fitz is about to find out the worst of what Jets fans can truly be.

This is an interesting thread.

By the 4rth interception, you would think Bowles would have turned to Geno Smith atleast at that point he'd figure out it just wasn't Ryans game. By not making that move, the lack of trust he has in Geno is just a head scratcher to the point on why is he even on the roster then?

If the Jets do in fact make a QB change, you have to place Bryce Petty under the helm. The organization MUST and have to underline..MUST give Bryce real regular season game time experience under his belt so that he goes into the 2017 campaign with something to grow with.
Many may say he's hurt, though Trevor Siemien has the same injury and he's doing pretty good. Though by the time the switch would have to be done, Bryce most likley will be healthy.

1st off, lets see how Fitz bounces back vs a possible "Russel Wilson-less Seahawks" team next Sunday afternoon at home. If he struggles and Petty isn't activated then Bowles will have no choice but to insert Geno Smith in the ball game. Hopefully it clicks within his ears and he can pull out a win for us. Though the chances of that happening is closer to having life on Pluto as we know it.

Lets breathe a little. We're 1-2. Not the end of the world. The coaching staff and upper management on the other hand have ALOT OF WORK TO DO .

My fear is and I believe someone has posted this already is they will play him all year. Whether it's because of the justification of the money they paid him or no trust in Petty or Geno or Petty still being hurt and no trust in Geno. I'm assuming the second rounder isn't ready period, so I won't even mention him. There also is that chance that they are that blinded and stupid to believe in Fitz enough to play him regardless. I doubt that seriously but time will tell.

This week will be interesting to see if there will be any changes. The next three weeks will tell if we have a season.

But to stay on topic fitz will come out the game after Christmas............................Why take out the gift that keeps on giving until then

After the 4th and I would say after the 3rd INT, there is no way you don't yank his ass. Geno should have been put in no matter what you feel about him. As far as Petty goes, you wait until he is healthy and then activate him. I don't want to rush Petty just because Fitz is being Fitz and by rush I mean health wise. He is ready enough to sink or swim. I never want to see any QB single handedly lose the game for the team. Wins are precious and even after the 3rd INT, we were still in the game. Geno 100% should have been playing and that is 100% on Bowles.

Depends on how he looks in the foreseeable future. It's idiotic to even consider benching him right now, immediately after a career game against Buffalo. But if this keeps up however, it will be a very interesting question in future weeks......

Have to agree with this. It's too soon to make a choice. Obviously, yesterday Fitz played like garbage. But at Buffalo, his play was brilliant. Let's see a few more games before deciding whether to replace him or not.
