How long before we make a switch at Quarterback?

Everybody has a bad game, going from afc player of the week to 6 ints is radical. Fitz had poor accuracy on almost every throw, I'm not sure what causes that so drastically from last week.

If you don't support your starter,you risk mutiny with his replacement should he have a bad game. I don't think Fitz leaves the field unless he puts 2 of these games together. It's a fluid thing, if he is a good game manager next week,he's ok.

With his accuracy clearly suffering,why didn't we run more? Why didn't our game plan adapt?

But this is bigger than Fitz, we have good veteran professionals. This was an extremely sloppy,poor performance by many on offense.

Fitz could have had 10+ more INT's last year, but his WR's can go up and bail him out many times. I want to have some hope for the season or at least watch the possible future at QB. I have said it before I know what Fitz is and good defenses are going to expose him on a consistent basis. If he can't lead us to at least 3-3 start then put him on the bench. A QB with limited skill begins to press more when things aren't going well. He doesn't have the talent to sling the ball around. Jump balls and consistent behind the WR throws are going to lose a lot of games for the Jets if they keep him in all year.

Robby Anderson's one catch was a bad throw as well by Fitz.... Robby was open by almost 3 yds and should have went for a TD but he had to basically come to almost a full stop to catch the under thrown ball.

Fitz is what he is.. The CS/FO now who he is and I think will ride him the whole year...

Though thats another problem as well. The back-up is just as bad as the performance we saw yesterday. Geno by no means is a savior. Giving Smith reps is not only wasting the season away its him actually auditioning for other teams and us being left out cold in the water not gaining anything.

We all know Geno Smith will not re-sign with this team and the club wants no part of him after this season. If the organization has any inclination of atleast salvaging the season if Fitz continues to play bad the next 2-3 games, then place Bryce Petty into the line up.

Many may start calamouring "that he's injured". Trevor Siemian has had the same injury and has played very well. By the time management is ready to make a switch, Petty will be 100%.
Atleast Bryce will get some sort of real game time experience to build from leading into 2017.
This by no means is rushing the kid. Playing Hackenberg is as he is clearly not ready. Petty has played better at the position than any of the QB's ahead of him on the roster in the pre-season. Could care less if it was against 3rd stringers as Geno would have fared far worse, even against that competition.

Hoepfully this is a moot point and Fitz can get his shit together, but if he doesn't, Petty beter be inserted not Smith.

Yes he struggles with accuracy, but this was not the same every pass was way off. And the harder he gunned it the worse it got. He can't take that approach,he needs the Tom Brady approach to be successful. Take what the defense gives you,if it's not there throw it away. No ints. Have confidence in the talent,and the longer the game goes,the more tired the defense becomes,the more likely you are to find cracks.

Keys picked up Tampa te on waivers. This experiment is over.

After sleeping on this and having the chance to calm down and collect my thoughts, I say Fitz will NOT be benched this season. The biggest reason being because there NO better options on the team.

What everyone is failing to realize is what Fitz is. He's always been a stopgap and nothing more. He was paid 12 million because they could not get him any cheaper and they still got him a lot cheaper than most QB's.

Everyone is also failing to realize that you should have expected this. I predicted this team would be 6-10, possibly 5-11 for a reason. Fitz is only a stopgap and our schedule is grim death. Do not be surprised if this team does not win another game until about week 8.

As far as I am concerned they are playing better than I thought so far. I thought the Jets would not win a game until week 8, but they beat Buffalo and that puts them ahead of my prediction.

It's just that this schedule is pure hell and the Jets do not, in general, beat teams with a winning record.........

This team has talent, the issue is ensuring has to go our way for success. One or two injured players and the formula doesn't work. The reason Gailey was out of the league was because the league figured out his overly simplistic offense. It works when players work it, but forcing bad throws and sloppy ball handling doesn't cut it on any team. We had 8 turn overs and were still realistically in the game the whole time.

Either these guys can clean up their act or we're playing geno by week 8.

Have to agree with this. It's too soon to make a choice. Obviously, yesterday Fitz played like garbage. But at Buffalo, his play was brilliant. Let's see a few more games before deciding whether to replace him or not.

Like I posted, he had his very best game as a pro followed by his very worst game as a pro. That means he's somewhere in the middle of being a legendary pro and Ryan Leaf. Lets see how the future unfolds.

I will say as of the time I had posted this, Fitz had thrown 3 interceptions, not 6. Personally, I thought he should have been benched after the 4th interception just for the rest of the game......

I heard a stat yesterday and forgive me advance if I get it wrong but Fitz throw the ball 47 times but was only pressured 10 times. He was hit only 4 times and not sacked at all. That means this man had more then enough time to get the ball to the receivers, TEs and RBs and he just couldn't. That is just a horrible display of QB decision making, accuracy, over confidence instead of just taking what the defense gives you and reading the defense. If these stats are correct and I don't think I'm to far off then it is telling of the kind of QB he is. This was more then just a bad game or the skilled players not giving him any help. This definitely wasn't on the Oline. It was all Fitz and I personally never thought he would or could be that bad. As much as I don't like him and believe he's average at best, I thought he was better then this. Obviously he probably won't have another horrible game like this but he will a lot more games that are bad enough to not help the team win. Especially in the games when we need him to step up the most.

He led several QB's to career years, but defenses historically have figured him outafter 2 years. Now of course there's several layers going on in a game. You'd like to think Gailey could find a way to keep defenses guessing, after all,the Patriots have an extremely simple offense,they run about 10 plays and then just switch wr positions within those plays.
