How would you rate this team thus far?

I think they can be a B or even an A by the end of the year but for right now, they are either unproven or proven to be decent to pretty good but not dominant. I’ll go with a C rating for now and here’s why:

The GM and CS: Unproven to this point. Joe D is building an excellent team thus far I will admit but they are primarily young and unproven. Saleh, love the hire and I’m pumped for him to prove his worth but he is a rookie HC and unproven. He definitely appears to be the right guy but until he proves it, I can’t give it him that just yet. Same with the rest of his CS.

The QBs: Ofcourse I’m hopeful here but they all are young and unproven. Zach Wilson seems like he has the GOODS and the IT FACTOR but until he proves it, I’ll hold out on that judgement. No veteran QB presence may turn out to being a problem in the long run also. I HOPE NOT!!!

The oline: Is a huge improvement and will make or break this offense. If they stay healthy and hold up then this team of talent and potential can truly works wonders but if they don’t, we’re in trouble. That includes Zack Wilson. Yes you can say this about any team but especially with a young unproven and inexperienced team like the Jets.

The WRs: C. Davis is a good to very good WR but not proven to be dominant as of yet. He was drafted high but hasn’t lived up to that. He hasn’t caught more than 80 balls or 1,000 yards or 10 TDs in a season yet. If he hasn’t to this point then will he period? Crowder is a decent slot but nothing truly special. With the addition of all the weapons we have now, he can either be special now because the focus won’t be on him or he’ll become missing period. Mims is unproven and he may end of being a beast for us but it sounds like he’s being outshined so far by the other WRs, so what do we say about that. E. Moore might be our hidden gem but he’s a very small WR. So can he be a #1? I doubt that but he may be our T. Hill, which is a MAJOR THREAT!!! K. Cole is decent but nothing special and if he takes time away from Mims than that won’t look good for Mims. The rest of the WRs isn’t worth mentioning much to me.

The RBs: They all are unproven and it appears we will be a RB by committee type team. T. Coleman is a 6-7 year vet and still hasn’t run for a 1,000 yard season yet. Plus he’s been injury prone. Perine got no real burn last year and I’m rooting for him and hoping he will be our bell cow but he just may not be the guy. Ty Johnson showed flashes last year but he’s unproven as well. M. Carter might be our beast back but he’s a smaller guy, so will he hold up for that? Seems more like a scat back type. J. Adams is the guy that baffles me. He ran for about 760 yards his rookie year with the Eagles but he can’t get on the field with our team at all really. I don’t get that???

The TEs: Just as unproven as the rest of the offense, so will they hold up their end?

Defense: A lot of rookies, free agents and younger players will most likely be our starters this year. What will that mean for the team?

I can't see grading the team at all just yet but it is, in my opinion, much, much better than it was last season. We've added some quality players from free agency to the holdovers from last season which gives us a base of experience to help the rookies along. The team consist mostly of young players which would raise their grade if I were to grade them. There is a lot of talent here some already developed and some developing while they all look to be improving. All that considered along with the new coaching staff and new system it will take time playing together for these guys to become a cohesive unit. I'm optimistic about the direction the team is headed and the apparent progress so far but until they've got a few games under their belt I don't think it would be fair of me to give them a grade right now and since I can't see into the future I won't venture a guess about the end of season either.

Developmental . way to many Question marks on all 3 phases of the team .
Rookie QB with potential and we all know what potential means in sports .
Who's the Feature RB to take the pressure off your Rook
Who's your TE to give your Rook his check downs when he gets flustered and he will at times .
Big names at LBer but even bigger Question marks .
Can this defense hold up with the crop of DBs we will likely throw out in coverage ?
Who is the kicker for FGs and will he survive the meadowlands ?

Developmental is how I would describe the current Jets but the good news is the trenches look solid and the receiving core looks vastly improved .

Coaching and system-fit players is the key. Seems as though with the JD/RS partnership there will be no more square pegs in round holes. Player development, and that's what this season will be all about, will be accelerated because everyone is on the same page. In other words, F/A acquisitions and draftees fit the system that we are going to run thus we will see new guys have a big impact but not necessarily early. That's what I'm looking for, constant improvement and no unrealistic expectations early on.

This team has lots of young talent. I think our ceiling is 9-8 this year, but I think we will surprise some teams.

The big adjustment for young NFL quarterbacks is 1. the speed of the game, 2. quick decisions which eventually have to become reflexive in order to succeed, 3. Oh yeah, skill sets, the arm the accuracy, protection up front, and weapons.
As Jets fans we are familiar with "hope". Personnel looks better from top to bottom as it has not been in years, so as another N.Y. athlete once said, "Ya Gotta Believe"!

IMO - this team will go as far as the CBs take them. Everything will trickle down from that position. The QB is close, but how many points Zach needs to score is in the hands of the secondary covering the opponent. LBs a question mark, but a lot of drafted talent to mix and match in the middle of the field.

Being a long time fan, but as far from expert as possible, I did read that a good DL can cover for a so-so secondary.
I do know it's 6 points for a TD, and 3 for a FG. It ends a drop past there.

if our offensive line plays great, then our QB will at least be pretty good. if our QB is great and our oline plays great, we might actually score some points for the first time in a long time and the games may be worth watching seriously.

defensive and offensive lines could both be really good and that combo wins games. hopefully they gel quickly and we get off to a decent start

we need to win some early games to be successful. it will build confidence in the system. I hope this happens. it will make things a lot easier

I think we are getting players that fit the system, which means we have an intelligent GM and coach. yes!!!!!!!

listening to some of the players talk, I think we are bringing in intelligent, character players. yes again!!!!!!!!

I'm in Disney for 10 nights right now. My waiter last night was from Rochester NY. Bills fan. he is pretty excited about his team too. I hate that it seems our division is on the rise and the afc in general. unlike the last 20 years where the afc had 1 team and Peyton trying to beat them and not much else. not surprising brady bailed to the nfc who now have nothing.

Enjoy your vacation, CH.
And, since you're there, you might have missed this: your two favorite players, Tom Brady and Zach Wilson, share the same birthday!
