I think they can be a B or even an A by the end of the year but for right now, they are either unproven or proven to be decent to pretty good but not dominant. I’ll go with a C rating for now and here’s why:
The GM and CS: Unproven to this point. Joe D is building an excellent team thus far I will admit but they are primarily young and unproven. Saleh, love the hire and I’m pumped for him to prove his worth but he is a rookie HC and unproven. He definitely appears to be the right guy but until he proves it, I can’t give it him that just yet. Same with the rest of his CS.
The QBs: Ofcourse I’m hopeful here but they all are young and unproven. Zach Wilson seems like he has the GOODS and the IT FACTOR but until he proves it, I’ll hold out on that judgement. No veteran QB presence may turn out to being a problem in the long run also. I HOPE NOT!!!
The oline: Is a huge improvement and will make or break this offense. If they stay healthy and hold up then this team of talent and potential can truly works wonders but if they don’t, we’re in trouble. That includes Zack Wilson. Yes you can say this about any team but especially with a young unproven and inexperienced team like the Jets.
The WRs: C. Davis is a good to very good WR but not proven to be dominant as of yet. He was drafted high but hasn’t lived up to that. He hasn’t caught more than 80 balls or 1,000 yards or 10 TDs in a season yet. If he hasn’t to this point then will he period? Crowder is a decent slot but nothing truly special. With the addition of all the weapons we have now, he can either be special now because the focus won’t be on him or he’ll become missing period. Mims is unproven and he may end of being a beast for us but it sounds like he’s being outshined so far by the other WRs, so what do we say about that. E. Moore might be our hidden gem but he’s a very small WR. So can he be a #1? I doubt that but he may be our T. Hill, which is a MAJOR THREAT!!! K. Cole is decent but nothing special and if he takes time away from Mims than that won’t look good for Mims. The rest of the WRs isn’t worth mentioning much to me.
The RBs: They all are unproven and it appears we will be a RB by committee type team. T. Coleman is a 6-7 year vet and still hasn’t run for a 1,000 yard season yet. Plus he’s been injury prone. Perine got no real burn last year and I’m rooting for him and hoping he will be our bell cow but he just may not be the guy. Ty Johnson showed flashes last year but he’s unproven as well. M. Carter might be our beast back but he’s a smaller guy, so will he hold up for that? Seems more like a scat back type. J. Adams is the guy that baffles me. He ran for about 760 yards his rookie year with the Eagles but he can’t get on the field with our team at all really. I don’t get that???
The TEs: Just as unproven as the rest of the offense, so will they hold up their end?
Defense: A lot of rookies, free agents and younger players will most likely be our starters this year. What will that mean for the team?
