If I'm Woody, day after the second Fish game I fire Idzik. No matter what the Jets do the last 6 games.
That's the only firing I do. I go out and hire a football orientated GM. One that has a strong background in Scouting, and personnel. Give him total power over the football operations.
Once the GM is hired, let him do what he wants with every employee of the team. Why interfere with his selection of coach. It didn't work out so well with Idzik. If he wants Rex back, so be it.
I think it is a very long shot Rex is retained, but you never know. I do think Rex will be a HC in the league within a year or so

I think Rex will probably go to Chicago once their head coach is gone. His history with the team will bring excitement to that town similarly to how he brought that herein NY in 09 and 10.

Maybe it's because I follow this team closely but I am really pessimistic about the lack of scouting. Come on! why Jalen Saunders over Martavis Bryant? Funny thing is that we were scouting Taj Boyd there but somehow didn't think his WR was good enough. Similar situation with Vlad Ducasse and we missed Victor Cruz!!!

You can't fire Idzik and not Ryan. No way will he do what he did after the 2012 season again. A new GM gets his own HC. Even though I have always been a Ryan guy, the teflon mentality toward him must end.
What I recommend Woody do is bring in a Bill Polian-type figure as Director of Football Operations before the season ends and let him evaluate the operation. Woody doesn't have to fire anyone, let the new Director of Football Operations do the evals.
