I hope Gase and the Jets don't end up doing what the Giants have done!

I've given him credit for Darnold, but he has to thank the only GM worse than him for passing on Darnold. I will always be grateful Mac put us in position to get the one QB that I wanted that we actually picked. Mac also has to thank Kirk Cousins because his dumbass would have paid $90M guaranteed for Cousins. The reason he had to overpay for Bell and Mosley is because he sucked at drafting. There is talent here, but he had to overpay for most of it, but its not on the OL because Mac couldn't or wouldn't draft OL. He mostly wasted rounds 2-7 every single year. This is an 8-8 team unless Darnold takes a giant leap forward. Mac should have been fired 2 years ago along with Bowles. If Gase fails at least he got rid of Mac. Just like I can't be convinced Mac was a good GM, his supporters obviously can't be convinced that Mac built a roster that won 14 games in 3 years. Gase could see what a buffoon Mac was so he got him fired, but really Mac got himself fired for being inept. His supporters like to name the handful of good things he did where I and others could name 85% of his moves were complete trash. At this point he is gone and we move on. Gase is in charge and yes he could destroy this team, but lets face it the Jets have always been pretty pitiful. Gase was setup to fail in Miami. He is probably setup to fail in NY too, but what the hell do we have to lose. I said it at the end of the season that Mac should not be allowed to spend one dime of that money which he did a great job hoarding, but teams tend to have money when they suck at drafting talent and have nobody to pay. Should we have kept Mac and he and Gase continue to not get along?? The answer to that is 100% NO. He had 4 years and his supporters kept saying give him a chance and now those same people are saying Gase better win right away. Now I will say Bell and Mosley better be Pro Bowlers. Lets give Gase chance. Jesus the Mac supporters were willing to give him a 5th year.

I am or was I a Mac supporter, I guess you can say I was to a certain extent. I also believed he should have gotten fired because he didn’t draft well enough. The Kirk Cousins thing I totally forgot about I’ll admit and Thank God that didn’t work because if it did, I’d feel the same way you do about Mac. That would have been a straight up dick move. Especially in a year when there were the QBs coming out of college, namely Darnold.

I will say this, Mac definitely could have done more to put this team in a better position but he did more then just draft Darnold. Yes he could and should have done more with the OL, WR core and secondary. He didn’t and we’re lacking in those areas but the OL isn’t as bad as you make it out to be. The WR core isn’t as bad as I make it out to be. The one area that probably is as bad as it seems is the secondary. The cornerbacks we currently have are horrible and that’s on Mac.

Other then that, this team is in a pretty good position to succeed if it continues to be build correctly. Would he have had to pay period or overpay for Bell or Mosely if he drafted better? No he wouldn’t have but not every GM hits on every draft pick. That’s impossible to do every year or most years really. So Mac did fall short in some areas yes he did but he made up for it in other areas. I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

I’m saying Gase needs to win immediately because Mac handed him a team that is ready to compete. I would of said that regardless if Mac was still here or not but I’m definitely saying that now that Mac is gone and Gase is the one that got rid of him. Gase wasn’t set up to fail with this team as he was with Miami. Gase has a winning team here. He just has to coach them correctly and keep building on what he has, not tear it apart like he did in Miami.

Trash huh, WHATEVER!!! I tell you what will be trash is if Gase doesn't handle this correctly, he tears this team apart and it blows up in his face. Let me make this straight, I'm rooting for Gase and want this to all work out but forgive me for pointing out what appears to be the obvious here. Gase is coming to a team with some very good talent. Some even top tier talent in Bell, Mosely and Adams for example. He has a young OB on a rookie contract. Darnold appears to a franchise QB and Gase is a QB guru supposedly. So he's coming to a team that has ALOT more talent then what Miami did and he has to come out the gates winning. If he doesn't do that immediately or at least eventually and blows this team up instead of build this into a winner then that and he will be trash, not this thread. SORRY ONCE AGAIN FOR POINTING OUT THE OBVIOUS!!!

And that is all well and good. What I was referring to was that you and you alone were the one who brought race into the equation. That is pure, 100%, trash.

Let me once again apologize for making the comparison in that way. Bringing race into this was not exactly what I was going for. I was making the comparison that Gase appears to be doing or done with the Dolphins what the Giants have done. I realized after starting this thread that this may not be the case. I don’t believe AT ALL that Gase is a racist but he did get rid of some of the best players on the Dolphins and they just so happened to be black players.

That wasn’t about race but it was about him not wanting to pay those guys because he didn’t think they were worth the money. I hope he doesn’t bring that mentality here because we do have players here that are worth the money, no matter what race they are. No he can’t pay everyone but he appears to have the mentality of cleaning house and not wanting to pay anyone and that is not what I want him to do. The Giants seem to have the mentality of getting rid of any player of any race that is out spoken and strong minded. Even if their worth the money and I just don’t want Gase to have that same mentality. That’s all I’m saying!

I know GM's don't hit on every draft pick, but when you have multiple drafts with only 1 pick still on the roster that is a disaster. Gase knows Bell was a stud. I'm sure his concern was like many of us which is whether Bell can still play or even wants to. Gase is also tired of all these guys skipping OTA's. Thats a big part of why football sucks now. You can tell these guys are not the best they could be. I know you could get hurt, but that is part of the job. I coach youth soccer players and I know how difficult these kids are now. Our kids know not to bring their phones into our facility and we recently banned Apple watches. Kids still try to use them during our sessions. We just tell them we will smash them with a hammer or take them and sell them back to them on eBay. When I grew up coaches were to be respected. When a coach tells them to do something they did it. Now kids have been allowed to question everything. I would say Gase is just sick of the entitled athletes of today as many of us coaches are. Unfortunately for Gase he can't control these guys the same way I can with my athletes. His only hammer so to speak is to cut or trade them. If the Jets go 6-10, but improve like they never could under Mac and Bowles then I will be happy especially in year 2 if Gase actually addresses the OL. I want Darnold to make a nice leap which is what Gase is here to do. If Gase loses the team then that's his fault. Thats why he should be given control, but a GM should be brought in to pick the players that he thinks he needs and get rid of the players he doesn't. If and when they fail they should be fired. Now maybe you are saying Gase's style won't work with this new breed of players and I would agree, but like I tell my athletes they need discipline and consequences to be successful and that holds true for professional athletes.

If he got rid of black guys and replaced them with shitty white guys maybe that theory could be true. However, white people are labeled a racist for almost everything said or done now and thats very unfair. As far as Gase, I don't think one move could be looked at as racist. Lee was a garbage LB and he was traded because of his lack of performance in 4 years. Or maybe he was traded because he was Mac's pick, but trading him was a good move. Gase got rid of those players in Miami because they weren't buying into his system. I'm hoping for the best with Gase. If it doesn't workout just add him to the list. I'm numb to it now.
