I've given him credit for Darnold, but he has to thank the only GM worse than him for passing on Darnold. I will always be grateful Mac put us in position to get the one QB that I wanted that we actually picked. Mac also has to thank Kirk Cousins because his dumbass would have paid $90M guaranteed for Cousins. The reason he had to overpay for Bell and Mosley is because he sucked at drafting. There is talent here, but he had to overpay for most of it, but its not on the OL because Mac couldn't or wouldn't draft OL. He mostly wasted rounds 2-7 every single year. This is an 8-8 team unless Darnold takes a giant leap forward. Mac should have been fired 2 years ago along with Bowles. If Gase fails at least he got rid of Mac. Just like I can't be convinced Mac was a good GM, his supporters obviously can't be convinced that Mac built a roster that won 14 games in 3 years. Gase could see what a buffoon Mac was so he got him fired, but really Mac got himself fired for being inept. His supporters like to name the handful of good things he did where I and others could name 85% of his moves were complete trash. At this point he is gone and we move on. Gase is in charge and yes he could destroy this team, but lets face it the Jets have always been pretty pitiful. Gase was setup to fail in Miami. He is probably setup to fail in NY too, but what the hell do we have to lose. I said it at the end of the season that Mac should not be allowed to spend one dime of that money which he did a great job hoarding, but teams tend to have money when they suck at drafting talent and have nobody to pay. Should we have kept Mac and he and Gase continue to not get along?? The answer to that is 100% NO. He had 4 years and his supporters kept saying give him a chance and now those same people are saying Gase better win right away. Now I will say Bell and Mosley better be Pro Bowlers. Lets give Gase chance. Jesus the Mac supporters were willing to give him a 5th year.
