I like the Jets rebuilt RB core

Green Jets & Ham

King Of All Draftniks
Jet Fanatics
RB1 - Matt Forte
RB2 - Bilial Powell
SY/GL - Khiry Robinson
All Purpose Burner -- Scatback/Wideout/Returner: Dri Archer

With the exception of Powell staying in his RB2 spot, the rest are all new additions.

I love the way this group perfectly compliments each other.

And our starter will actually be playing this year.

Read that our three RB FA signings equaled Ivory's contract in Jax. If that is truly the case, then MM is to be commended. We got better, and more diverse.

I agree completely. Ivory was a great back but he didn't exactly fit with Gailey's scheme. Kudos to Gailey for making it work. Forte is the perfect back to what Gailey needs in his system. Elusive and great in the open field. Now.......we just have to get Fitz back. he seemed to be the only Jets QB that can throw the screen pass.

We need more then a screen pass from him. He has to stop throwing into a crowd all the time. maybe by the time he hits 40 he will learn that. He will never make the marines because he can't throw a bomb.....I know I know a play Manager. Look my other QB (Palmer) is good as he is needs to step it up also.

so, with these signings, do we take Zeke Elliot if he is there are our pick?

I don't think so. There's no room for him in my opinion and he will be a part time player. There will be other players available that will be able to help us more. We should take an offensive lineman or a linebacker in my opinion.

completely agree.. based on what we've done this week, i'd be surprised if we draft a RB period, much less at 20..

if elliot is the BPA on mac's board & available at 20 pass up on him.. every rule has an exception..

now if mac thinks this elliot kid is a truly special back, all bets are off..

do any of our college football guys/gals here at JFU think elliot will be a special NFL back??

I probably would have drafted a power back in the middle rounds to complement Forte/Powell, but otherwise, I am pretty pleased with the moves made.

no reason they can't still do that. robinson has so little guaranteed money, he's not a lock for a roster spot

I'm cautiously optimistic. Forte turns 31 late this year, Powell was banged up last year, and I really don't have a clue about Robinson. I'll trust in Mac.

That's true.

I guess what I am looking for in a power back is someone with low mileage. Guys who run as hard as Ivory are rare, but Robinson hasn't had that many carries, and he's still only 26. So he does fit that bill to a large degree. Most carries he's had in a season is 76, and he's generally around or above 4 yards a carry.

We'll see how well all the new additions pan out, but the big signing IMO is Bilal Powell. This guy showed a lot this last season and I couldn't be happier he resigned. Assuming Fitz comes back to the Jets, he'll LOVE having Powell around to catch passes.

Anything is possible. I never expected a defensive lineman last year when we took Williams. That pick is looking genius now, with Wilk possibly walking next year (or a tag and trade). Elliot is the real deal IMO. But personally, I'm with Elias. OLB or Tackle are bigger needs. Much bigger needs. I'm honestly worried about the LB position in general. If Henderson gets picked up by Oakland, we need serious reinforcements at LB. Ragland would be a consideration at #20.

If hes there, you take him. Same predicament as last year taking Williams as we were loaded at the position. Breed more competition. Forte is up there in age. But i doubt he drops that far.

Interesting that Robinson had 17 pass receptions last year - in just 8 games - 56 carries.

I dont know much about his skillset. Is he supposed to be a good receiver out of the backfield?

I disagree. If macc thinks elliot could be a10 year difference maker, you take him. In the draft we need to consider long term needs.

I think the best strategy is to always draft the expensive positions early to help manage the cap. Lbs and des are expensive on the open market, so lock down the stud rookie contracts. Rbs at 4 mil and o line at 8 mil cab be signed in fa. But qbs, des, wrs are good financial choices in rounds 1 and 2.
