I know the argument, he will be the next Sanchez. To inexperienced... Don't do it....... and look at their college stats
Comp ATT Comp% Yds Y/A AY/A TD INT QBR
Sanchez Collegee stats 313 487 64.3 3965 8.1 8.3 41 16 153.9
Trubisky College Stats 363 533 68.1 4482 8.4 9.2 39 8 159.9
Almost Identical in every category except Trubinsky threw half the ints..... But still eerily similar.... So here is my case for drafting this kid if and only if Petty shows us he can't be at worst a serviceable starter.
1. I am all for drafting a QB every year till we hit a home run... I don't care baout any other implications... NO QB = No shot at winning a Superbowl in this era...
2. The Texans passed on Derek Carr becuae he was the brother of David Carr.... yeah that makes sense they are 2 different people 2 different QB's one's faliure will has nothing to do with what the other will do.... Think Houston would love to go back in time and draft Derek Carr... You bet your ass they do...
and lastly
3. Sanchez had the tools... Sanchez had some progress going and then the CS and the FO killed his development early and assumes he was ready to be "the guy"... Well he was close but he wasn't ready. Tom Moore was our OC consultant in 2011... Sanchez had some great games that year all of them when Moore was called in to help gameplan and work with Mark..... Mark was ruined by us and never recovered...... I think if we had a guy like Moore as our QC from Day 1 of Sanchez we wouldn't be here now.
I have said it before a QB needs 3 things to succeed in the nfl
1. Talent/Skill/Leadership
2. The Right System
3. The right HC.
Sanchez was never in the right system and never had the right coach... I don't know if Trubisky will fit this system and I don't know if we have the right coach for him but I do know If you have a QB with the skills, size, leadership ability that he has available when you are picking, you pick him if you don't have a franchise Qb on your roster.
Just my two cents
