there are only three worthy top 5 first round safe picks in this upcoming draft...
we don't know if OT Ryan Ramczyk will stay in school (word is they predict him returning to school for senior year)...
we don't know the stance of hybrid safety, linebacker, running back Jabrill Peppers...
so the only top first round prospects are:
Mitch Trubisky, UNC
Myles Garrett, TAMU
Leonard Fournette, LSU
sitting at #5 we would be screwed...
no way we take a left tackle, center or corner with a top 5 pick... if we are sitting here expect a team with a need for d-lineman, linebacker or have a favorite player in mind to grab instead sitting pat make a trade to move up...
could see the Browns take Fournette #1 overall then trading up using their other 1st plus both 2nds to move up and take a defensive player albeit corner, linebacker or even quarterback that will likely be overrated...
all season we heard about Cam Robinson being the best tackle in the draft which I didn't take stock in... Chad Wheeler & Ryan Ramczyk are the top 2 but one isn't likely to entire the draft this year and Wheeler is projected better fit as a guard...
for us to cash in, trade down get that friggen kitchen sink worth of picks even if its some this year and some next year I will be satisfied knowing we can continue to build this roster to a competitive juggernaut for the immediate and long term future...
looking at the best prospects that fit our needs and game plan:
pure left tackle Avery Gennesy TAMU, center Kyle Fuller Baylor would give us stability for a long time on the o-line... Both are second and third round rated prospects currently expect both to climb the boards... Gennesy could elevate to end of the 1st round early 2nd with strong combine, pro day and private workouts... Fuller currently mid third could climb as high as mid second...
we need to draft at least two defensive backs...
the only true first round prospect I like is Guard Dan Feeney from Indiana, have him currently rated 18th overall... drafting him would say goodbye to free agent Brian Winters... Feeney oddly enough is a road grader type guard like James Carpenter who was one of the first free agent signings by this regime... Carpenter is under contract for the next two seasons but his contract is movable this off season...
