If the season ended today, the Jets would have the #5 Pick

If we can draft an elite qb, edge rusher, LT, cb, wr in that order of importance,do it. If not, trade back. We need bodies.

That in combination with a trade of Richardson would help immensely in restocking the shelves. I gotta believe that a team like Dallas would be very interested in a defender like SRichardson, particularly after their defense gets exposed in playoffs this year.

The problem is, there are too many areas of need to be a legitimate contender for a few years. All we need is a QB, LT, OLB, CB, and WR? We're not going to fulfill those needs in one offseason. No matter how aggressive we are in free agency. They're all tough positions to fill, develop, and pay for with the draft/FA approach.

The Raiders hit the lottery with Carr and Mack. They found their franchise QB, thriving in just his second year, and an absolute stud in Khalil Mack. A game changing enforcer on D. That's the kind of turnaround this team needs to be in the conversation as a playoff team.

Agree, I think when mac took the job it was a5 year rebuild. And things change along the way so you have to remain flexible.

there are only three worthy top 5 first round safe picks in this upcoming draft...

we don't know if OT Ryan Ramczyk will stay in school (word is they predict him returning to school for senior year)...
we don't know the stance of hybrid safety, linebacker, running back Jabrill Peppers...

so the only top first round prospects are:

Mitch Trubisky, UNC
Myles Garrett, TAMU
Leonard Fournette, LSU

sitting at #5 we would be screwed...

no way we take a left tackle, center or corner with a top 5 pick... if we are sitting here expect a team with a need for d-lineman, linebacker or have a favorite player in mind to grab instead sitting pat make a trade to move up...

could see the Browns take Fournette #1 overall then trading up using their other 1st plus both 2nds to move up and take a defensive player albeit corner, linebacker or even quarterback that will likely be overrated...

all season we heard about Cam Robinson being the best tackle in the draft which I didn't take stock in... Chad Wheeler & Ryan Ramczyk are the top 2 but one isn't likely to entire the draft this year and Wheeler is projected better fit as a guard...

for us to cash in, trade down get that friggen kitchen sink worth of picks even if its some this year and some next year I will be satisfied knowing we can continue to build this roster to a competitive juggernaut for the immediate and long term future...

looking at the best prospects that fit our needs and game plan:

pure left tackle Avery Gennesy TAMU, center Kyle Fuller Baylor would give us stability for a long time on the o-line... Both are second and third round rated prospects currently expect both to climb the boards... Gennesy could elevate to end of the 1st round early 2nd with strong combine, pro day and private workouts... Fuller currently mid third could climb as high as mid second...

we need to draft at least two defensive backs...

the only true first round prospect I like is Guard Dan Feeney from Indiana, have him currently rated 18th overall... drafting him would say goodbye to free agent Brian Winters... Feeney oddly enough is a road grader type guard like James Carpenter who was one of the first free agent signings by this regime... Carpenter is under contract for the next two seasons but his contract is movable this off season...

Agree, and that's the reason why I'm not going off the deep end because of this year. Our roster was a mess two years ago, and under the 'competitive rebuild' it has gotten only marginally better. We have found out about a couple of guys like Enunwa, Powell, and Winters from the previous regime, drafted a couple of very good to great defensive players in Williams and Lee, contributors like Mauldin and Jenkins, and have the makings of a very good corps of young WRs. We still don't have a QB, edge rusher and the OL needs a big infusion of young talented players. Last year was fools gold with a cupcake schedule and Fitz's surprisingly good year. Its going to take some intestinal fortitude from management, ownership and fans, but this cannot be a competitive rebuild if we are going to build the roster correctly.

My Early TOP 5 Projections:

  1. BROWNS - Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina
  2. 49ERS - DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
  3. JAGS - Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama
  4. BEARS - Myles Garrett, ER, Texas A&M
  5. JETS - Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
If you don't like the pick for the Jets, thats fine, I ask only that you tell me who you would take instead?

I love Fournette but I would rather get in this order

1. Jabril Peppers DB Mich
2. Myles Garret DE Texas A&M
3. Marlon Humphrey CB Alabama
4. LEonard Fournette RB LSU
5. Dalvin Cook RB FSU
