Great quote from the wonderful article Metjetgal posted.

"I don’t doubt that if the Jets had won that game but then went on to lose the following week in Cincinnati, that would have been classified as a #SOJ loss as well. Basically any loss that ended the season would have been classified as such. It is why I find it pointless to watch the team through that lens."

This is absolutely true. The Jets exceeded expectations, yet any loss, in any way, short of winning the Super Bowl would lead to Jets fans returning to their natural state of "woe is me" and " Same Ol' Jets" and "this only happens to the Jets."

Great post! When I looked up the teams since the SB started we are close to the middle of the pack......a few teams have won many a few teams have not been in it & few have lost many.....the jets are in the middle.

We are still the only NY teams to have won the SB

Look, this is one of the best Offenses I've ever seen with talent in the NFL. So then whats the issue in your opinions? Why aren't Jets in Playoffs? Lack of talent on Offense in your eyes? If you took Pat OC & gave him this Roster of talent Jets would be for sure going to the super bowl. If Jets have the Players to put up these kind of numbers then its poor scheming by OC & use of the talent in crucial situations. I cant blame the good Players on Offense for the play calling that puts them in tough spots.

Okay, this is just baffling. First of all, what the heck does the defense's allowing Buffalo a nine-minute drive have to do with the offense? And secondly, are you aware that the Jets' offense set numerous franchise records this season, including the most total yards they have ever gained in a season? To say is that Gailey was a problem after he coached this team to their best offensive season in history is the very definition of absurd.

So you got me watching Flintstones now. I like the one with Ann Margrock. She was hot.

I gotta tell my story how I can never escape cheater fans:
I go in to the hospital for my carpel tunnel surgery monday morning day after Jets collapse. I 'm in the OR and they are just starting to sedate me. I look up at the DR. and of course the Jets are still on my mind. I ask him if he's a football fan. He says ,"yup"
I ask who he likes. Of course he says the cheaters and I let out a groan
Then I hear a nurses voice say that everyone in the OR is cheater fans and there are like 8 of them. Shoot me now
She asks who I like and I say Jets, to which she says "but they were good this year weren't they?" I say "no, they stink every year"
The Dr. says "don't worry , someone will beat them this year"
I say "not before the superbowl" and he agrees. then someone says Peyton Manning and the last thing I say before I go totally under is "Manning never beats them" then I'm out. but it was conscious sedation so I just don't remember after that. I bet I was cursing out brady and cheaters all during my surgery. HAHA. I can't escape the damn cheatah fans anywhere

There are far more teams than that. Hell, it happens to even the more fortunate teams. Look at how the Ravens lost that playoff game against the Pats. Imagine if that had been the Jets losing to the Pats like that.

Oh heck yeah there are other teams like that but the Jets are the most consistent at it. The Ravens have beaten the cheatahs and gone to the superbowl recently

and yeah it killed me that cheatahs beat the Ravens because of that cheasy belichick play. You know they have since rewritten that rule so no one can get away with that play again. just like the tuck rule is no more

Cheaterchick is causing the rule books to be rewritten and turning football into chess for cheaters. Just let the damn players play and stop looking for cheesy loopholes to give you an advantage

I don't believe that the Jets are the most consistent at it. The Jets are one among many.

I can't speak for anyone else, but me personally, in the back of my mind I was thinking all week last week, so long as we win this game and make the playoffs, everything after that is gravy. I was going into the post season with a HOUSE MONEY mindset if we had won that game ... wanting to win, but not feeling the pressure of having to win.

Of course it would have been disappointing whenever we lost, be it the wildcard round, divisional round, conference finals or Super Bowl, but once we beat NE and controlled our own destiny, I felt like we have one more hill to climb to make this a successful season, we CANNOT let the coach we just fired knock us out, we have to win this game, and then, after that, its all gravy, now we're playing with house money, but we have to win this game!

Thats why I was wound so tight on Sunday, because that was my barometer game, the one that was going to make this a successful season in my eyes had we won it, or an unmitigated disaster if we lost it (to our former coach).

I think some of us are too worried on who we lose too...........

Yes I don't like losing to NE, Giants & Dirty birds or Rex but I care more about winning than losing.....It may sound funny to some but it is like the cart before the horse.....This year we had a good year....

I thought reaching 10 wins was the success, and anything beyond was gravy. It can't be all about the playoffs. After all, sometimes 9, or even 8, wins can get you in, while 11 keeps you out.

To me, the Jets' ceiling was 10 games. They hit it. Tough to be mad about that.

You are making too much sense. For the Joe Benigno segment of our fan base,.each season starts with their gloomy.prediction that the Jets have more holes than a doughnut and they will win 7 games at most

Then after a successful season like 2015 they immediately launch into their ....we suck because we didn't win the Superbowl....brand of wallowing rhetoric about their long sufferingness and loud calls for mass firings immolations and worse

They are the cross to bear for Jet fans. It would be sensational if they left and rooted for another team like the Patriots or seahawks but they prefer wallowing in misery way more than enjoying their lives

Fortunately this forum has way fewer of them.percentagewise so hopefully we can all move on.positively to even better seasons now that we finally have a professional GM, scouting staff, Head Coach and CS

Better class of fans on this board - in large part because it was started to give the better class of Jets fans an alternative board to work on.
Many thanks to the administrators and moderators who've stayed consistent to that ideal.

Yep.

This is one of the Jets' top 10 losses. Really deflating.

By March I'll be all

The pats win was really a fun game. The Bills not so much

BTW, NO I'M NOT IN THAT PICTURE lol

OMG!

If I were going under for surgery, and suddenly discovered every one in the room were Pats fans, I'd be terrorized.

Lord knows what the filthy slime did to you while you were out. :)

HYATT, i've been posting on jet boards for more than 10 years & JFU is my favorite.. has been for awhile now.. after the continued hacking i was becoming concerned this place might be done or at least as we know it.. but E & his team were hearing none of that & i give my continued thanks as well..

truth be told, if JFU didn't come back, i was giving real consideration to not posting on jet boards anymore.. maybe not completely but definitely not at the volume level i post here.. not to take shots at other jet boards but sometimes bigger isn't better.. & being a "member" of a forum is not the same as being a part of it's community..

anyway, as our small but very active community continues to grow (& it will, BTW) Elias & his team's challenge will be not letting a handful of future posters ruin the culture that we have reestablished & maintained here at JFU..

but like our team, I believe our board is in great hands as well..
