This team is frustrating to say the least but coaching is trying to build a specific dynamic having players understand their roles which is of course logical but what we learned is they want all players per position to know everyone's role because during a game certain substitutions can not be made and they want to be flexible in play calling...
As we seen, players like Mims haven't been able to see the field because of his food poisoning this past off season and couple weeks ago contracting covid he hasn't been able to develop the necessary game shape while learning his positions multiple play designs... Frustrating because we know he has potential and could be a difference maker but like I said if they went no huddle he would be a liability...
Same goes on defense there is no variables for not having legit starters at every position... C.J. Mosley is the only mainstay at linebacker and he gets the brunt of the blame but he is not the only one out there... Quincy has some of that blame, he needs to better tracking the ball either in pass coverage or in the run defense... Quincy needs to be more efficient on the tackle rather trying to disengage the ball carrier from his legs...
Injuries this season have been stifling more so in the secondary losing LaMarcus Joyner first then Marcus Maye killed our back end... Ashtyn Davis is a good sideline to sideline run defender but is average in coverage... Sharrod Neasman and second year man Elijah Riley are average at this point... We have no one to play over the top or single high...
Bryce Hall is arguably our best corner on the outside with both Guidry and MC2 nickel roles... Pinnock doesn't have the pursuit nor closing speed to be an effective cover corner in this defense... Maybe consider moving him to safety... He has the ball skills, why not?
This off season will be critical on the growth of this organization because there are some fan favorites that might be allowed to walk because they don't or can't be effective in this particular style of defense...
