LOL you guys realize - he was a bust third round pick who we tossed and then traded a first round pick bust for to get back. I know he had a decent year but lets be real...5m for a guys that will most likely resemble himself next year is bad

Avg Salary for MLBs is just over 7 Million per year. I believe 28 are getting that ,13 are at $10 million or more and 5 are at $14 or more.
I don't see any link to what the new contract we are voting on is but I expect him to get $7 Million for 3 with Mac's patented out after year 2.

well the franchise tag for MLB is this amount, so we can tag him for $7.94 M and then off his good season we could likely trade him to get some compensation if we don't want to roll with him for another year...

I think they will try to sign him. If not, let him walk and see if he brings a compensatory pick.
i know we will be active in free agency but we will have several FAs walk as well.
Maybe he could be packaged in a draft trade though.
He has earned an extension this year.
