Is it too early to start ... the FIRE Adam Gase Thread?

Way too early - look the offense has been nothing short of putrid. But until they have Darnold back, and we see what this offense looks like over the course of the season - yes, it is. Right now, the offense is Kotite era bad. I was not fan of hiring Gase, but now that he's here, he certainly deserves more time then 3 games, two with a third string QB that never played a down. We knew the offensive line was going to be a problem. Right now, Khalil needs to get on the bench until he's ready to go full time.

Right now, calling for Gase's head is like evaluating a draft during rookie minicamp.

They need Darnold. They need Herndon back. They need some time in the new system. And they need a line that actually starts playing together.

If he keeps throwing players under the bus and not taking responsibility for his shitty play calling then no its not too early.

Tebow, his play calling has been predictable, unimaginative and just plain bad. The flip side, it's hard to call plays under these circumstances. Even when they do make a play, it gets called back because of a penalty. Not excusing his play calling, but let's see how the season goes. It would just be unfair to evaluate him at this point. Like Sack said - no Darnold, no Herndon, we're down our top players on defense. It's just not a fair test. We all know we had no chance today - none.

Thats fine, but it better be a complete turnaround over the next 13.

I was ready for this the day we fired the guy. Don't understand why we needed to hire him after the Miami debacle. Like him or not, McCarthy was the right move, not Gase. McCarthy comes out publicly and says he only wants to HC the Jets. And only the Jets so, "Nah, we'll go with the guy who carpet bombed the Dolphins." Can't make this stuff up.

Sorry but with Darnold and Herndon we are still 0-7. And in truth with Mosley we might only be 1-6. 2-5 at best. The offensive line is offensive. In comparison cheetahs line is playing with backup center and LT and look how they play because of coaching. And who was our 1st round pick this year?

Yeah. Too early to can him. Also remember we have played two 3-0 teams in 3 weeks, with 2 of the best defenses in the league in
Buff and NE. However, if this keeps up with Darnold and Herndon back in week 5, and more historically bad offense going forward, then he should be canned by week 8 along with that worthless OC of ours.
What I don’t understand is the O line play. Shell looks like complete shit, Winters has always been shit, and Khalil is washed up. Why aren’t we playing Harrison, Brown and Edoga. And why aren’t we rolling out the pocket, and where is the PA passing. At this point I would welcome back Bates.....

In a word NO. What makes anyone here think that getting SAM back and a few other players is going to make a difference? Unless the OL can somehow have an epiphany and starts to actually block people nothing will change...we may not lose as we are not but we will lose because of the flowing:

This is what our OHC was able to achieve something I never - in my lifetime thought and that is an O performance that maybe worse then any rich kotite's teams O performance:
QB: 12-22 98 yrds, 1 int QBR 47.2 %
OL: 5 sacks, all kinds of missed assignments, 2.2 yds per play, 1.6 rushing

0-12
3rd down
10 punts
6 1st downs
NE 382 yrds, Jets 105

Unfortunately, it gets worse because AG post pressor was a joke.... During his last post game presser
he said the same dam thing about looking at everything. really coach, how your analysis work out from last week? I mean the O has gotten progressively worse which after last weeks debacle I thought couldn't get worse but unfortunately it has SEE ABOVE.

But what might be more telling is that the D has scored more points 15 then the O 11. When you make Rex and TB look like good O coaches then you got a real problem/…. Now my next prediction is when this team gets to 0-6 - and I see no reason why we can achieve that milestone - then I suspect you'll start to hear locker room grumblings.... CJ and WJ must be mortified and you know I am glad because they are responsible for this fking mess.

I would say it definitely isn’t but I’m getting real tired of this crap with him already. I don’t even blame him for the set up of the team per say... This has been a debacle WAY before he got here but he’s not doing much so far to turn it around. At least show us some signs of something positive. Ok so we won’t win shit this year, not even 6 games most likely but can we at least see something positive. Something where we can say I see what he’s doing and the direction we’re going and it looks good! We have nothing with him so far and it’s unexceptionable.

This right here says it all!!! He is supposed to be this QB whisperer, some offensive Guru, yet our Offense looks like hot shit! No creativity, no development, nothing!! Not to mention whomever they hired to coach the O Line needs to be fired yesterday! Unless this is a O Line of XFL players this crap is beyond unacceptable

Yes. Something that makes him look like he knows what he's doing and we are heading uphill. Even if we only win 5 games. So far we are worse than last year and that's with Bell here

I’ll give Gase by the end of next year and I’ll start the damn thread myself. It’s a damn shame that we’re waisting the talents of Bell, Mosley, Montgomery and Crowder but they did sign their contracts so it is what it is. By the time we get this right, they’ll be past their prime and these will be waisted signings pretty much.

I'm as sick of watching this crap as anyone - 46 years of it. I've seen it all, and so have many of us on this board. But I'm not ready to throw in the towel after 3 games, one of which our QB was admittedly no better than 80% (and it showed), and the other two games with a 3rd string QB playing in his first games, combined with the loss of our entire starting LB corps, and a below average O-Line that he inherited. I'm no Gase fan, and I'm losing confidence in his ability to get an offense in place that actually remotely resembles a pro offense. But, I want to see where we are after the next three games. We have a bye week. We might get Darnold back and Mosley and Williams. The O-Line might get healthier. Those would be positives.

The other thing I'll say, and I don't know this to be true, but it seems logical, is that Gase might have tailored his scheme specifically for Sam's traits as a QB. If true, he would have to basically scale back his entire system for someone else, and change how he calls plays. I don't have evidence of this, just a suspicion that he will open up the playbook throughout the year. This is the best case scenario and I hope it's true. Right now, the offense is to use Gase's own words, atrocious.

And I have no problem with him calling out the offense. The whole offense stunk. But he owns the playbook and the calls, and that's on him. So he needs to coach better, put players in better positions, and call better games, period.

Point is - not giving up yet, it's just too early. But his seat will get warmer if this continues throughout the season and we have Darnold under center.
