Talk about splitting hairs? Isn't this just a tad disingenuous? It implies that somehow Brandon Shell is a well versed young guy ready to take the reins? The truth, however, does not go quite like that. The fact is, Shell was drafted just last season and he barely played in 2016. He got starts when the Jets were very clearly out of any sort of playoff contention. He started against every other teams border line players because the season did not matter and most of those teams knew they could beat the Jets without using starters.
Brandon Shell has proven himself in a very limited sample against sometimes less than NFL caliber competition. That's a fact. He also has not had any decent competition from any other player on the roster because the fact is, the jets really do not have much talent.
Brandon Shell starting with be 100% trial by fire. Throw him into the works and lets see if he sinks or swims.......
