if you want to use manish mehta for the basis of your assertions on this board, all the power to you...
i made my own assertions 54.. you insisted on other people in the media's opinions, not me.. i believe idzik tried to get rex fired by forcing him to field an ill equipped team in a season when ryan was obviously fighting for his job.. but that couldn't have been lost on john?? he has degrees from some of the finest universities this country has to offer.. maybe the problem is john not a competent GM.. or maybe he's a back stabbing rat.. or maybe it's a combination of both..

there were more then a few articles written & spoken of by the media that idzik was intentionally trying to get ryan fired.. & supposedly rex himself thought the same thing or at least he was rumored to.. how valid these reports were is anyones guess but i didn't just make them up.. i read & heard them first hand..

you said there were more than a few articles. i asked you to provide them and then you basically told me to look it up myself. i did and didn't find much, other than what i noted above (some random websites, message boards, and unsourced comments saying rex felt he was set up to fail). i said i found those sources dubious and asked again if you had some evidence. you then mentioned manish mehta.

everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. but you were the one who brought up a number of articles, which is why i followed up on that line of questioning.

well he failed at his job and got fired. pretty simple.

not sure why some need to assign nefarious intentions to it in that he intentionally set rex up to fail. of course, i'm not so sure he expected both milliner (high ankle sprain after landing on another player) and mcdougle (non-contact torn ACL from the proverbial turf monster) to both come down with serious injuries in the first day of camp. but nevertheless, he didn't properly stock the roster and paid for the results by losing his job.
i gave my personal opinion on the situation.. you questioned why anyone would feel this way.. i mentioned people in the national media felt compelled to write or speak about it on their national platforms.. do you have an issue with freddie colman's credibility as well as mine??

The Milliner injury was 100 percent the fault of our idiot Head Coach who decided that playing your best starting CB and defensive player of December 2013 on the all important extra point coverage team was a smart idea and all that stuff

The only team that has more cap space than the Jets are the Jaguars. Found this tweet by Wischusen interesting. Let's hope the Jets make it the fourth team.

The landscape of sports "journalism" has changed drastically in recent years. Media hacks like Manish Mehta will side with the individual(s) who provide information. Idzik never spoke to the media off the record, and when he spoke on the record, he gave them nothing. Here is a link to a Manish Mehta article talking about the Revis trade shortly after Idzik was hired. Manish, citing "sources", blamed Woody.

Now, after not getting any information from Idzik for almost two years, Manish writes another article on the Revis trade and cites "sources" saying that it was Idzik who wanted Revis gone and that Woody would've paid him.

Hobson, IMO, is correct. Trying to get Jets news/information from agenda based hacks(and forming your opinion off their bias)isn't a sound plan.

This was one of the more accurate descriptions I was able to find on Idzik's Jets tenure.

i don't know who freddie coleman is, so i can't opine on his credibility
he has a national radio show with ESPN & is a born & raised new yorker who also happens to be a jet fan.. but again, he & others may share my opinion they didn't make it for me.. big difference..

So glad you posted that.

Idzik might not be a personnel guy, but the fact that he's been involved in so much success is eye opening. Even if his detractors don't want to acknowledge it.

His detractors dont care about his success other places, they care about the Newark smell coming from our franchise from his time here...which should be all any Jets fan cares about.

:) True. he didn't even resign his own players...like Howard and Wilkerson despite $50+ in cap space. Then we watch Gia get beat like a school girl weekly at RT.

Mike Wallace is a bad example because he's playing with a bad QB. Mike Wallace is a deep threat playing with a guy with Tebow passing accuracy when throwing down field (Tannehill, Bridgewater, and Geno had the worst comp % on throws over 5 yards last season). Almost all Wallace's routes are over 5 yards...

Austin Howard bolted to the Raiders after they went "Oakland Raider" stupid and paid an average RT huge money to be a guard. Bravo!

Idzik was under no pressure to re-sign Wilkerson. He had two years left to sign him long term. Why do it then?

Giacomini was the best option at RT in FA once Howard left. Solid recovery by Idzik. Giacomini wasn't as bad as you imply he was. He was OK, but not always consistent.

Mike Wallace is a diva that the Dolphins are trying to unload: his attitude sucks, he doesn't get along with players, and he underperformed an outrageous contract. Ryan Tannelhill has been annointed the franchise QB, by virtue of the contract numbers. (Yes, it's disputable whether he's a franchise QB, but that's beside the point. Tannehill is a long term commitment, Wallace is a misfit in Miami's eyes).

When people make up their minds about someone, it's very difficult to get them to admit anything positive. It's just "knock him down, kick him in the throat, and leave him for dead".

Sad.
