IMO each one of those pickups had SUBSTANTIAL impact on overall team success, and weren't even in the prime of their career. Let's hope Iupati keeps the tradition going . . .

Same here, Old, I was in favor of signing Iupati, but I thought for sure the Jets were gonna get raped on this deal. This is actually a very reasonable contract. I wouldn't call it a steal, but we didn't have to overpay either. This is precisely what an elite OG in his prime should be worth. Good Job by Mac.

This is a big first step. I think we'll bring in another lower profile FA guard in the coming days, too.

Is Iupata a LG? Do we now have a 3-way competition at RG between Oday, Dozier and Winters? If so, I really am interested to see how Dozier stacks up. He is a very good run blocker and pretty athletic. I would like to think with Iupati signing and Marshall trade that we are putting a lot of protective pieces around a young QB, whoever that may be.

He played LG in SF but I wouldn't be shocked to see him at RG in Chan's offense.

He played LG for the 9ers...I bet he plays RG for us.

RGs is your run blocking power side and LG is your pulling or swing OG...that's why they kept Faneca at LG because he liked to be the pulling guard on the 31 iso runs off the RGs @ss...Faneca pulled and led through the hole. I think Iupati will be our RG. Will be interesting to see what he says in the interviews this week.
