The Jets have been awarded OL Alex Balducci off waivers from the 49ers.

A defensive tackle in college, Balducci moved to the offensive line for San Francisco. The Oregon product originally signed with the 49ers after going undrafted in 2016 and spent the majority of last season on their practice squad. The 6’4”, 310-pounder was promoted to the active roster on Dec. 12 and appeared in two games.

Balducci racked up 77 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks during his four years for the Ducks, earning a Pac-12 honorable mention in 2015.

Well, at least he's bigger than Breno. And any body (intentionally two words) could be better.

his role of space-eater with decent enough feet to keep gaps plugged and squeeze the pocket, has long way to go in his development.. has some size, but doesn't have play with the functional strength and technique... has below average hand usage... has good football IQ... has marginal athleticism... would put him ten steps below Breno...

Read or heard somewhere that he was transitioning to center. Seems a bit odd as that is a position that I'd think would be really difficult to learn, especially at the Pro level.

he was used as an interior lineman with the 9ers so it is not too unheard of... remember when Wes Johnson came to us he was drafted as RT, for us he kicked it inside to play guard then eventually became a center so maybe it we will strike lightening in a bottle twice at this position...
