Jets announce plans for variable pricing for season tickets

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- The New York Jets are using variable pricing for season tickets for the team's 10 home games, including the preseason, at MetLife Stadium this year.

The team announced the pricing plan Wednesday after using it for individual game tickets last season.

While the total price for season ticket packages remains unchanged, variable pricing allows the Jets ''to price our games in a way that more accurately reflects fan demand and interest,'' team president Neil Glat said.

Individual games within each season ticket package are assigned one of three tiers: marquee, premier and preseason.

The four marquee games in Todd Bowles' first season as coach are: Cleveland (Sept. 13), Philadelphia (Sept. 27), Buffalo (Nov. 12) and New England (Dec. 27). The four premier games are: Washington (Oct. 18), Jacksonville (Nov. 8), Miami (Nov. 29) and Tennessee (Dec. 13). The two preseason games are: Atlanta (Aug. 21) and vs. Philadelphia (Sept. 3).

Great, if preseason is priced accordingly, it just raises the prices for regular season

Example: If you paid $125 per ticket for 10 games for your season tix, that's $1,250

Now if you charge $25 for preseason, that leaves $150 per game on average for the regular season games

Meaningless for season ticket holders but a price increase per game for individual buyers

I think it is even helpful for STH if you have to sell a game you can't make. It allows you to price a regular season game higher to have a better shot at a profitable return if your seats are in a desirable location ( not i.e. endzone mezz or UD)

Unfortunately, preseason games are priced at $101 for lower level seats. Normally pay $130

Basically they are getting same money from STH.they are trying to make it seem like they care.....we know they dont.....it is a rob Peter to pay Paul mentality...lowering preseason and raising "PREMIER" games.....it might help the single game ticket buyers at the most....

I think it is even helpful for STH if you have to sell a game you can't make. It allows you to price a regular season game higher to have a better shot at a profitable return if your seats are in a desirable location ( not i.e. endzone mezz or UD)
