Jets Beat Writers - FEED ME!

Thursday, June 11 is the last day of football 'action' until the end of July. It's the most painful few weeks of the year. Please send us off with some useful FOOTBALL related news such as

DON"T want to read any more about....

Cromartie's Twitter wars...
Fantasy football giberish...
Calvin Pryors anger hangover from LAST year...
ANYTHING said by Giacomini....

DO want to hear about...
Are Evans, Enunwa and the others showing anything in camp...
Can we read into Qvale's reps as a negative for Dozier, Winters and Harrison...
Is Heaps doing anything in camp?
What's Reilly up to in camp? Based on activity is there any chance he and IK take Babin's spot?
Does Deon Simon look like he has any shot to make the active squad or is he more of a spectator out there?

The cutsie little stories of locker room banter is the way writers show they are 'insiders' having access to things no one else does. Truth is real fans like folks on this site (I think) don't really care much. Tell us what's going on on the field.

Have a nice 6-8 weeks!

Don't mind the sentiment. It's a good idea.

But I'm not sure each day merits a whole new thread. There's no reason this couldn't be piggybacked on yesterday's thread on the very same subject.

It's only three days but I get what you're saying.

I understand. Valid point.

But I would assume you will have similar comments about what you want the beat writers to cover and not cover when camp begins. When that rolls around, perhaps a single thread that you update daily, with other posters chiming in, could be in order.

If you follow the twitter feeds, it sounds like a pretty good day today for Evans -- appeared to have made some nice plays.

Not a bad day for @Owusu81 and Shaq Evans, both of whom have made a couple tough catches in traffic. #Jets #NYJets

Darryl Slater ‏@DarrylSlater 43m43 minutes ago
Geno Smith connects for nice looking sideline pass to Shaq Evans, who has had a good minicamp. #Jets

And Qvale got some reps for Breno as first team RT. Will be interesting to see where Qvale fits in the summer when TC begins.

they arrived in the mail yesterday................:carlton:

That's a bit misleading. All we have is a membership to the US Press Association which fulfills the requirements to get access to media events. However, each event has their own restrictions so now the hard part is to build relationship with the pr departments to give us access. It's worth a shot. With work and life getting in the way, I hope we can make most of this opportunity.

Good luck. You can't complete a journey without taking the 1st step.

Thank you Nick.

Back on topic. I really want to know how Marcus Williams is doing. He impressed me last year. How's he stacking up against Dee and Dex?

I really like Williams -- nice parting gift from Mr Idzik. I think he is going to be a player. Bowles had some positive comments about him this week as did a couple of the writers. A few are below:

Thanks! I missed that. I forgot about Walls! Wow. We are stacked at that position.

Yup - huge difference from last year. Best part is that we can afford to bring Dee and Dex along slowly. No need to rush them back from injury -- like we did last year putting an injured Milliner up against Jordy Nelson in GB in week 2.

Bowles quote from Thursday's presser:

"I don't know if there are surprise players, guys I didn't know as well being in a different conference. Just consistency-wise, Marcus Williams and (Darrin) Walls have been very consistent with their approach and they have very good instincts. That just stood out from what I saw this spring."

That's my favorite part of what Mac has done for us this year. It isn't just the cb position that we can afford to bring along slowly. Pretty much every position. From Leonard Williams to Devin Smith to Mauldin to Petty to our injured cbs. No need to rush them and set them up for failure. We are deep! If some of them take a bit longer to develop, it won't be detrimental to the team because we have solid vets ahead of them.

Agree - although one place that still concerns me is depth along the O Line -- especially at tackle and center. That subject has kind of been beaten to death in the Charles Brown thread.
