The Jets have claimed offensive lineman Pat Elflein.

Elflein (6-3, 303) played in one game this season for the Vikings before sustaining a thumb injury and was placed on injured reserve. He was waived Nov. 14. He's played right guard, left guard and center in 44 regular-season games (43 starts) over his first four seasons. Elflein was drafted by Minnesota in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Ohio State.

I wanted us to draft him back in the days where it was forbidden to take O linemen. He was originally a center, but when I've seen him for the Vikings he is often physically overwhelmed by the D lineman opposite. Be interesting to see whether he goes back to center.

I notice how linemen drafted by the Jets are valued commodities by the rest of the league when they are cut, and often end up as starters for more successful franchises (this is basically 31 franchises). Have the other teams got better position coaches?

A lot to enjoy in this post, including the smack down of Mac not drafting linemen and how bad coaches have been developing linemen when they get them.

also wanted us to draft him, but he is definitely an upgrade over Josh Andrews as the backup center...

You bring up a good point that I wanted to bring up. Beachbum & winters are playing well for the Cardinals & bills...

Why. The ol coach on the cards has done a very good job this year not sure who the bills have. But beachbum looks so much different playing for the cards. So does winters

Yes, interesting that Elflein was cut in favour of Dozier! I believe Beachum is playing right tackle for the Cards, which sort of makes you wonder why we didn't keep him as right tackle/backup left tackle. He might even have been able to mentor Becton. Whenever I've noticed Winters for the Bills it has been for a penalty, so no change there.

as usual, I'll bring up the cheatahs. they had the same o line coach who even precluded belichick. belichick knew how important the guy was and got him to unretire after he retired for a year and the o line declined. most former cheatah lineman that left for more money, never had much succcess again.... and we all know what brady did standing in a pocket untouched for10 seconds every time. any time he threw a pass past the line of scrimmage, you could easily say , plenty of time...wide open... before he threw. he once stood in the pocket, called Sanchez and invited him over for some hot dogs, and after sharing a half dozen or so, threw to a wide open Pedelman for a td
