Jets don’t rule out Wilkerson trade

Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson took to Instagram on Friday to post a video of himself walking on an anti-gravity treadmill with a compression sock and sneakers on his right leg to show that his recovery from a broken bone continues to progress “ahead of schedule.”

That news would be of interest to any team that might want to pursue a trade for Wilkerson, who received the franchise tag from the Jets earlier this off season. During a conference call on Friday, Jets General Manager Mike Maccagnan wouldn’t say whether he’s had any talks on that front but didn’t rule out the possibility that things could go that way.

“It’s not something we’re actively pursuing,” Maccagnan said, via NJ.com. “But at the end of the day, he is under the franchise tag, so we’ll see how this thing plays out.”

My Gut tells me there is a 50% chance Wilk will be gone & a 70% chance fitz will stay. as far as Jace I just don't see the jets being in love with him.

Right now the Jets have to be smart, can't shop a player on the mend... Now Wilkerson is showing the world via his instagram page that he is ahead of the rehab... Expect the closer we get to the draft the more news will be talked about what team is interested in trading for Mo...

Like I said in the other thread, I believe a team that offers 2 picks this year (2nd & 4th) will get one helluva player in Wilkerson and the Jets will move on with a good young replacement in Leonard Williams and will bank that Sheldon Richardson will finally grow up... With McLendon I see him as a bridge to allow Deon Simon and any other draft prospect they acquire to develop and take over in two to three years as the starting nose tackle...

The draft is the key but it always is LOL I would love to see Richardson turn things around & be the player I think he could be. He has quickness & size. But NT could be a problem this year.....We will see

McLendon age shouldn't be a concern, he will be that grinder 3 down player we wished Harrison would develop into... Wouldn't put it past the Jets to grab a defensive lineman if someone falls down the boards and mean passed third round... Keeping David Harris in the mix while trying to bring back Erin Henderson and possibly retaining Jamari Lattimore along with second year man Taiwan Jones the Jets know they need to reinforce the nose tackle position with run stuffing linebackers... Now Lattimore not really that run stuffer style middle linebacker but he can play sideline to sideline and cover in space...

With defensive ends that are solid in run defense will bolster the edge forcing opponents to throw more than they were game planning too...

I think if Mac is smart it is a virtual lock that Mo gets traded some time during this offseason. I can't see Mac being a good GM simply allowing Mo to leave via free agency and the Jets get NOTHING for him. That just doesn't make any sense and I would lose a lot of respect for him if that happened.

But the Jets are NOT going to resign him. If it hasn't worked resigning him over the last two plus seasons, one in which our GM had 50 million in hand, then it is NEVER going to happen. Mo wants MORE than what JJ Watt got and the Jets are being smart and not paying it. Mo is not as good a player as Watt is.

So what is Mac left with? He can't resign him and he knows that and he can't allow him to play under the tag this season and then leave in FA next season and he knows he can't keep on franchise tagging him for one year deals worth damn near 16 million dollars?

So Mac should know that it's time to sh*t or get off the pot.

Mac is a good GM so whatever he's telling the press is pure BS. He has to be shopping him to the highest bidder right now and I would imagine a deal will come to fruition right around the draft.

I am not ready to say "big Mac is a good GM" yet. He has done some good things but I need to see more. As far as Mo I can take him or leave him he had his first great year last year but again I will not say he is a great player worth top dollar at this time.

The only thing I will say in addition to that is sooner or later we need to get players that want to stay & want to come here for other reasons than top dollar.

CJ stayed on his team as well as D Stanton for less money I could go on but I don't want to upset some on here LOL
